Advantages: Friendly crowd, good music

Disadvantages: Hot and crowded

Despite it's central location the Mint club is quite hard to find, tucked away down a back street in the commercial area of town. The club itself is quite small, it's capacity is only around 500, it only has one room but on busy nights the outside terrace is usually opened. The dj box is situated in the corner of the raised dancefloor, equiped with the most glitter balls I have ever seen, on the farside of the club as you walk in, on the left there is a large bar and the unisex toilets are located next to the dancefloor. The shock on some peoples faces when the enter the toilets to find members of the opposite sex in there is worth the entrance money alone. The club is smartly decorated with a green theme, well it is the mint club! This includes having stools in the shape of polos and an eery green light in the seating area, so when you've had a few everyone starts to look a little weird. The dancefloor takes up around half the club, and as everyone there is up for a good time and a boogie often this is not large enough, meaning chairs and tables are utilised for their dancefloor potential.
The club opens various nights of the week, the only regular nights they have are Dave Beer's legendary night, Basics on Saturday and Love to be on Fridays. Both of these nights offer a funky house soundtrack, with love to be sticking to their residents and Basics often getting in the 'big names', such as Danny Rampling, Lottie, Roger Sanchez and even Eric Morillo. Basics also hosts one off parties at the massive Majestyk in Leeds and they often have tents at all the major dance festivals. The club is open til gone 4 on both nights, often carrying on til there is no-one left standing. The drinks are quite expensive and as this is a small club it often gets very crowded and hot, but the crowd are always friendly, whichever night you go on and you are always guaranteed a good time if funky house is your thing.

Erik Morillo? Wow, he's like one of, if not THE world's biggest DJ! And playing in Leeds!
