Advantages: Sounds great, looks impressive

Disadvantages: None

The Opera House is an old Opera House (funny that huh?) located in Boscome, Bournemouth, and is used for many an event. I first went there last year for a rave called Fusion.

I was amazed by the Opera House, as I didn't actually know it was an old Opera House, and when I arrived, the place looked amazing. There is many floors, and the main floor was used as a dance floor, right in front of the stage, and up the stairs were more bars, a quiet seating area, and the entrance to the private VIP Boxes, one of which we hired out. These are the old side boxes that used to be sat in by the richer fans of the opera. I was impressed with the size of these boxes. There was plenty of room for about 12 people, and there was also chairs, a couple of tables and a fridge built into the wall to keep your drinks cool, and we also found it big enough to sit in should you get too hot! These bozes were also quite secure as you have to have a special key card and wrist band to gain entry.

The whole place is absolutley massive, and is decorated in such a way that it looks modern, yet authentic for the time it was originally used. The carpet looked amazingly clean, and the sound travelled so well in the opera house, the music sounded great no matter where you were. The bar staff were actually quite polite, even though they were rushed off their feet, and there was a huge selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, but being a rave they were quite expensive. I am not sure of the prices of the drinks on other night and at other events the Opera House holds.

The Opera House does not have its own car park, but literally around the corner is a NCP car park, which is a 3 level car park, and it can be expensive if you are only staying for a couple of hours, but if an all night event, you can get 24 hours parking for only £4! I found this great for an all night rave.

The Opera House hosts many different events, as well as raves, they also hold other things like wrestling shows, plays, concerts and many other things, details of which can be found on their website.

Personally I enjoyed my night at the Opera House, it was clean, looked great inside and out and I had no problems with the venue at all. If you ever get the chance to have a night out here for any event or party, I think you will really enjoy the place, especially if it is a music event, as the sound does sound brilliant, no matter where you are in the place, even though it is massive!

Summary: A great place in Bournemouth.
