The Phoenix (Manchester)

This review is focusing on the Pheonix pub, daytime and evening, rather than the upstairs. It is a yellow bar, which means you can buy a yellow card for around a £1, which lasts you a year and you can use for discounts on drinks. They have a handy keyring you can get so you don't forget your card if you go regularly. They also serve food, which is good and pretty cheap, decent for students. The pub shows football, and doesn't seem to get as busy as the others, so can be good if you like watching it. Haven't been to the phoenix since they charged us an astronomical rate to put on local underground djs and artists.As in the rest of Manchester clubland profit drives music policy, or rather the short term profit that attracts the undiscerning student masses who will pay £16-00 to see Dave Clarke and would wear a plastic duck on their head if they saw posh wearing one in mixmag.
