This review is focusing on the Pheonix pub, daytime and evening, rather than the upstairs. It is a yellow bar, which means you can buy a yellow card for around a £1, which lasts you a year and you can use for discounts on drinks. Haven't been to the phoenix since they charged us an astronomical rate to put on local underground djs and artists.As in the rest of Manchester clubland profit drives music policy, or rather the short term profit that attracts the undiscerning student masses who will pay £16-00 to see Dave Clarke and would wear a plastic duck on their head if they saw posh wearing one in mixmag. They used to ( and frankly I have no interest in returning to see if the situation has improved)employ speeding steroid chomping Salford laards on the door who thought it amusing to batter the clientelle and in some cases the djs.
