Advantages: Nice food, big rooms

Disadvantages: Not much soundproofing

I stayed here in July 2008 on a business training course. First thoughts- its about a 15 minute walk from Manchester Piccadily station. The interior of the lobby is modern and trendy. There is a small bar area as well with a LCD TV screen. My room was a double en suite- the decor was a little outdated but this wasn`t an issue. The room was big, had tea & coffee making facilities, TV, telephone, desk, big cupboard etc. The bathroom was a good size.

I stayed on a half board basis. The breakfast is lovely- cooked options include sausages, bacon, black pudding, hash browns, etc. There are a wide range of cereals, toast and breads, pastries, jams and cold meats and cheese.

The dinner was lovely, though portions tend to be a bit on the small side. My favourite was the Goats Cheese Tartlet. Drinks were reasonably priced- i paid £1.60 for a medium glass of orange juice.

Staff were friendly and made my stay a pleasant one. However the only problem i encountered was that the hotel seemed to have no sound proofing. Some nights you could everything going on outside which isn`t ideal if you want a good nights sleep. But i understand they are about to undergo a major refurbishment so hopefully the noise probelm will be addressed.

Summary: Nice hotel, shame about the noise
