Advantages: good music, bouncy dancefloor!, cheap
Disadvantages: KIDS!, too many kids = hotness..., hotness and many kids = crap night out
Monday nights at the Ritz are "alternative night"s which is really wicked as they play some quality music. They also play a different variety which is cool too as every alternative music fan gets at least something that they like played. Another bonus of The Ritz is the bouncy dancefloor which is wicked. I used to dance the night away to my favourite tunes whilst getting really drunk cheaply. Lovely. the price to get in is also really cheap, especially if you have the frequent card thingy. Bonus!
However change was a foot at the Ritz. Suddenly the average age dropped from around 18, maybe a little less, to about 12. Suddenly I was surrounded by gangs of 12 year olds getting amazingly plastered and running around the place. Now don't get me wrong I am not against kids of that age going out 'cos I used to when I was that age so it would be hypocritical of me to condemn them, but the Ritz hit new heights when the WHOLE place was covered in them, and NONE of them looked even slightly 18, I don't know how the hell they got in. My theory is that the bouncers let LOADS of them in ebcause they're half the size of normal human beings meaning that they thought they could fit more in, or maybe it was to make more money... I am making it sound like I'm around 60 when I'm 20, but the last time that I went to the Ritz the place was HEAVING with 13 year olds making it AMAZINGLY hot as there were too many people in there and i felt like a paedophile in a sauna, which isn't a nice feeling....by the way I didn't fancy any of them or anything, it was just an analogy to make me seem older...seriousley. I am not a perv. Really.
However the last time that I went to the Ritz was in the school holidays, but this is the only time that I am home to go to the Ritz as the rest of the time I'm away at uni, during term time it must calm down a bit and must fill up with manchester uni students, which would make it wicked again, so ba
sically all in all I would reccommend the Ritz on a Monday night to you if you like alternative music, but one tip, don't go in the school holidays....unless you want to feel like Roy Cropper looks.
