Advantages: Easy to get to.

Disadvantages: Not that many good bands go. It can be a bit expensive.

This is the South's largest multipurpose entertainment venue. The capacity of it is 1749. It was refurbished in 1989 bringing is up to todays entertainment needs.

I have been to the Southampton Guildhall a few times to see bands. I prefer hard rock and metal and not many bands that I like tend to visit Southampton so when one does I make sure I go. As well as bands visiting they sometimes use the venue for fairs and exhibitions.

It is fairly easy to find and is around 5-10 minute walk from Southampton Central station.

When I get there the queue is long but seems to go down quickly. Inside the doors they sell the official merchandise and there are a few people selling unofficial merchandise outside.

I quite like the building inside. The stage is at the opposite end to the doors. The floor is carpeted. There is a bar on each side of the main hall is original 1930s art deco surroundings. I think it is expensive. It cost £4.50 for a pint of cider last time I went. The venue is mainly standing and there is a very small balcony with some seats but most gigs are standing. There are facilities for the disabled.

Summary: An alright venue.
