The Tunnel is certainly one of the better known clubs in Glasgow. Although some people tend to have a pretty dodgy opinion of it. I personally love The Tunnel, it's fantastic! Great music that really suits my taste, frequent cheap drinks promotions, sometimes quite expensive to get in, usually £6-10 without a snapfax, but the £1 - £1.50 all night prices for drinks make up for that. Not forgetting there's Playstations set up near the entrance for when the dancing tires you. The dance floor itself is big. Fits many a clubber/ned. Which is the now bad thing about The Tunnel, ned's and lots of them. 6-8 months ago, the place was always jumping with not a ned in sight. Times, unfortunately, have changed. Something else I've noticed on a few occasions is the rapid, very rapid way The Tunnel empties. You go take a jimmy, (which reminds me, the toilets are pretty nice and clean) come out and its half empty!! Thursday night at The Tunnel is mainly made up of students and the music is a gradual mix of intermediate cheese into more trance and Hard House. So if you're a student and you've never been on a Thursday night, check it out. Friday night, the night which I tend to notice has the best drinks promotions, is more Trance, Garage and Hard House. Friday night is certainly my favourite night to go, well it was until the rapid emptying began, I go elsewhere now. Saturday night, like Friday night is made up of Trance, Garage and Hard House. Also Saturday is the dress as well as you can day. Everyone looks there best, basically it stops half the ned population getting in. Victory! And then you get your posers, who enjoy showing off their nice new clubbing gear. When the time comes to leave, there's is a black hackney taxi rank not but a swallows flight away (about 100 yards, maybe less) and some lovely late night chippys/kebab places. And you can never forget the lots of alleyways for those who
can't handle their drink or forgot to take a leak before leaving the club. The Tunnel - 84 Mitchell Street Glasgow (0141) 204 1000

After attending the Tunnel in Glagsow's Mitchell Lane for the first time acouple of months ago, I was impressed with the club, especially the blasting sound system. The dress code for The Tunnel on a Saturday includes a request for 'lots of effort', which results in a smart and up for it crowd. On a Friday, drinks promotions run including £1 per drink until 1am. On a Saturday, the music ranges from trance to hard house in the main room. Entry to the club is approximately £7 - £10, depending on what night you attend. The Tunnel plays host to some of the worlds top class DJs, previous guests have included Paul Van Dyke and Judge Jules. You'll also notice an area holding Playstation game consoles as you enter the club! All in all The Tunnel comes across as a smart club and delivers the good to clubbers. It is also in a good location - its very near to Glasgow Central Station, main bus routes and a black hackney taxi rank.
