The Venue (Oswestry)
Advantages: Suitable for all ages
Disadvantages: Not very cosy
The Venue is a venue in the Shropshire town of Oswestry. The Venue is easy to find, just turn off for 'Park Hall'.
There are always lots of things going on at the venue; whether there is a football match on, a talent show, or just a band playing; there is always some entertainment on. There is entertainment to suit all people.
What's great about the Venue is the fact that it is a good place for people of all ages. Adults can come here for a quiet drink or to watch the football. There is also a play area for children to keep them entertained whilst their parents enjoy a drink.
The Venue is the home venue to football team 'TNS' and so when there is a game on (quite often), there are often discounts, e.g on beer which is good. When there is a game on, you have to pay an entrance fee. When watching the football, you can either watch it in the stand outside or you can watch it from the balcony attached to the Venue club - there is a great view from here.
If you like to keep fit there are also lots of fitness classes e.g. yoga and Pilates. There is a fitness suite here too, however I haven't personally used any of their fitness 'things' or been to any of the fitness classes and I am therefore unable to comment on them.
You can also hold your events at the Venue; children's parties or work parties / Christmas parties etc. I have been to a 21st birthday party. It is a large venue, so can allow plenty of people inside (probably around 500 at a guess). There is also a dance floor. There are two separate areas; the bit by the bar where you can sit and relax on the sofas, or the middle part of the room where you can sit by tables.
This is a brilliant place for families as it is a really. They have a soft play area (£3 per session) - parents can watch their children as they eat their meal have a drink. They also have a small arcade and a bowling alley too - although I have never been to this part of the building.
It is also a very affordable place. I have had a meal at the Venue. It was when there was a football match on and we bought a special ticket which included food; I had a veggie burger (2) with chips - it was really good and there was plenty of it. I also had a chocolate fudge cake which was really yummy too. Had I bought them 'not as part of my special ticket) it would have cost me £4 for the burger and £3.95 for the chocolate fudge cake. So as you can see, it is very good value for money.
I find that because the place is quiet big and is 'open', it isn't very cosy and I find that it is quite a cold environment. It is a friendly place; just that I personally think that it is quite a 'cold atmosphere', however having said that, it is also a good place to relax.
It is a very popular place to go. I have been there lots of times and it is always busy and full of people of all ages.
There is always plenty of staff at The Venue and they are always really friendly and willing to help.
There are plenty of toilets here which is great as it means that there is no queuing - yeah!! There is also lots of sinks and mirrors, so no fighting over sinks and mirrors either. The toilets are always very clean.
There is a large car park and on a 'normal night' you can easily find a parking space.. However, if you are going there on the night of a match, I would recommend getting there early as the car park does fill up very quickly.
Thanks for reading.
