Advantages: Good live music
Disadvantages: only being able to stay in there for 2 hours before being chucked out
The Wardrobe is a venue in Leeds where you can find live music, chilled out drinks or entertainment.
Its opposite the Leeds college of music, so always has a lot of live music on offer.
However, I am not a fan of this venue. I went to watch a university of leeds dance band gig. It began at 8pm, so we all got there for then. The set had to finish at 10pm. By then all of my group who had come to watch were in the party mood, had bought a lot of drinks at £3.50 a go and were really loving the music.
Bang on 10pm, the sound was turned off, and the bouncers preceeded to herd us into the street, how rude. Why were they doing this? Because there was another band booked that they were going to charge entry for seperately. They said we could pay again to get in to watch that band. We said no we will go somewhere else where we dont get treated like rubbish.
I wont be going back here. Although the bar staff were quick and friendly, their policy on entry fees is just appalling and I will definately not spend any more of my hard earned cash on their 2 hour slots of music.
Its a large venue, so you probably wont have a problem getting a table, and apparently they serve food in the day, but I wont be going back to try it. The quality of the live music is excellent but I would rather see those bands at another venue.
Summary: Dont bother going there
