Not too impressed actually... Oh look - Its a new paint job! Apart from that, there is not much left to play spot the difference with apart from the loss of a great night out in Derby. The main acttraction of Time other than Progress on a Saturday was definately the student night Plink Plink Fizz. And as with all great things, it came to an end. Why doesn't anyone learn-if its not broken DON'T FIX IT! We were all shocked on return to Derby this year to find out that this Derby-student-wide famous 'getting out of your head' night has gone. GONE! Not only has the ridiculous but student pocket friendly 'buy one get 3 free' offer gone, but also the great music they played too. We were sick of The Bush (in the front room) at Union One, and we still don't like it! They still have a student night on Thursdays called 'Thanks', a name which is strangely similar to top SU night at Union One 'Spank' (cunning marketing ploy there). £1 a drink though, (thats if you can find something you like at the bar), but the loss of the DJ to McClusky's (on his terms or Time's I wonder...) definately has led to a switch in location for Derby Student top Thursday nights. I was there 2 Thursdays ago, a week before the big 'money giveaway' promo, and there must have been less than 200 people there. Well there was definately a whole lot of space around compared to before. Funnily enough, I still had to wait over 10 minutes to get a drink. I did not bother to turn up the next week for the chance to get trampled by a few blokes jumping around on the dancefloor trying to grab a couple of fivers... I recommend the McClusky's... which is not right on the other side of the city from the Halls and major student areas as Time is, but also does a similar buy 1 get 2 free drinks offer. We are sad for Time's loss, but it looks like it was at their own risk...

Being a student at Derby University, I've gone to Time quite a few times, and I can recommend it highly. While it's not exactly a superclub, the layout is good and the bars are well situated so as not to get too busy. There is a student night on Thursdays with drinks for 75p so things could get pretty messy. The music here is a mixture of trance, garage and occasionally a bit of pop thrown in for good measure. Friday is also a fairly cheap night, although it seems that the serious clubbers wait til saturday - friday is mainly townsfolk and the students back for more. Saturday is Progress. This is a great night, where everybody is really up for it and the music is really pumping. Some really decent DJs often turn up - Judge Jules was very good recently. Also the house DJ, Boy Wunder, is really good at creating a euphoric atmosphere. All in all, it's not exactly Gatecrasher, but this is an excellent Midlands club to try out one night. Sorted!
