Not just hard house, a great afterclub! (Twilight @ Union 1 (Derby))

Most afterclubs are usually associated with hard house, as is Twilight, but the difference here is that Twilight concentrates on playing trance as well as hard house. This shows in the dj line-ups for the club, with half of the dj's playing trance sets.

The opening morning on may 27th was a complete success, with the club being quite full. Armin van Buuren was originally booked to play on the opening morning, but due to a booking mistake, a replacement was quickly found, the quality John Kelly. The nearest club is Progress, which is also in derby, and almost everyone in progress knew about twilight. Add to that people coming from all over the country, the club appeared to be quite full, which made it a complete success.

The club itself is quite dark, with a huge dance area with podiums at the front, with a bar separating it from the back area, where veryone chilled out on the rather uncomfortable wooden chairs!! But the organisers promised some comfy seats to come in the near future!! The sound was a bit dodgy in the back, but thats because all the speakers were directed towards the huge dance area. In there the quality was good, and the sound was loud!!!

John Kelly played an ok set, but he scratched quite alot which some people found annoying. DJ Destiny played a trance set before him, and was the best reance set of the morning. I hadn't actually heard of destiny, but i'll watch out for him in the future! The Tidy Boys played the last set, and from what I heard, they were outstanding!! I actually had to leave early, but my many friends still there told me they played an outstanding set!!

Twilight is in derby, and if you don't know where derby is, its just to the left of nottingham, and at the bottom of the peak district. The club is open from 4:00am until 11:30am, and their website is www.twilight-club.co.uk and they also have a popular web forum linked to the site.

If you like the idea of going to an af
terclub, but don't just want hard house, ie. Insomniacz, then Twilight may be the place to go!! My opinion of the opening morning is that it was an extremely enjoyable experience, the music was great, as were the people there. I'll definitely be going again in the near future!!
