****UPDATE**** Before you read this OP... The powers that be within the Empire and Ultra Vegas have deemed that the meat market nights shall return to the friday night sessions, and Ultra Vegas is oce again homeless. Ihope this will be a short lived situation, but watch this space is all the management will say. ************** Ultra Vegas is to Milton Keynes what Cream is to Liverpool. MK has always had somewhat of a deficiency where good nights out are concerned. This is being slowly rectified with the Xscape and Theatre District venues, but it still pretty lame for a town with such a young population. Ultra Vegas does its best to put MK on the clubbing Map. Ultra Vegas is promoted by a group of enthusiasts who go under the name 21st Century promotions. They are responsible for Casino, a garage night held at Visage, Northampton and other venues and have been involved in various other past and present events such as Hotdog and Bubble Love. If you ever get to speak to any of the guys their enthusiasm will rub off and you'll get the impression that these people are doing this for more than just money. We are currently spending this Sunday morning recovering from a dam good night out at the 5th Birthday bash. Top of the bill was Dave Pearce, a face that is rapidly becoming a regular at Vegas parties. Trance master Ferry Corsten was also sharing the lime light on this event, but was sadly scheduled to play at 4.30am - a woefully late spot for such a big name. JFK played a blinding set, really getting the crowd going and setting us up for a blistering set by Mr "Dance Anthems" Pearce. We were a bit disappointed by the VIP room and the lack of the promised marquee and juice bar, but on the whole it was a great night. The glow stick posse seemed to enjoy the night and the atmosphere was as good as any Vegas night I have ever been to. The venue, The Empire, is the only area that lets this superb promo
tion down. It is a shirts and skirts discotheque on most nights of the week, and is sadly themed to suit this audience. 21st Century brings in their own sound system and decorations to spruce the place up, but it takes a lot of work. Hopefully the guys will get their own venue soon. It just hasn’t been the same since the departure from the Winter Gardens in 1999. The team is venturing out to the international market this year, so look out for them if you are off to the White Island this summer. If they can throw a party in the sun as well as they can in the cold and wet then a good time should be had by all.
