Lakota (Bristol)
by DJ Recoil
I've only ever visited Lakota in Bristol once, and I rate it very highly. After finding the club (which takes a while) we stood outside waiting to be let in. From the outside it doesn't look very impressive, but once inside I was a lot more excited. You enter on the ground floor, which has another 3 floors above it. This ... floor has the toilets and you can get into the lower part of the main room. Walk up the set of stairs infront of you and you will be greated by the Main room. When I was there at GBH this was playing host to the likes of Mark EG, DJ Energy and Sharkey and was absolutely pumping all night. There is merchandise on sale and some wicked inflatable spiky things 'float' in mid-air constantly being inflated and deflated. There is a bar in this room, and I found the bar prices reeeaaly expensive. Out of this room, and you are greated by another room which is smaller than the main room, but larger than the top floor. This is a nice room, but very basic and has no bar :o( Up to the top floor of Lakota and ws my favourite room of GBH, the hardcore room playing host to the likes of Dodgee, Brisk, Vibes and Force & Styles. Off this upper floor main room is a bar room with a bar and a nice shiny floor which I found fun sliding on when it was covered with peoples sweat which had dripped from the ceiling. In the main upper floor room there is a stakc of speakers right across the right hand wall and they give off a good bass sound. I would recommend Lakota as a nightclub, however I think that the prices are way to high.

Essential @ Club Voodoo (South Wales)
by DJ Recoil
Voodoo is a fairly large club located very near the centre of Newport and is located very near to the main pub/club part of Newport so it's easy to reach. For pre-club bars I would recommend La Bamba's which is a small Mexican restaurant and cocktail bar located just up the high street oposite Mc Donalds. Another good bar is John ... Henries, but the doormen here can be a bit scary at times. Once you reach Voodoo you have to walk up a few sets of stairs to get into the club where you reach the reception and have to pay. Entry prices are usually very reasonable and it's only a few pound to get in. Walk through a set of doors now and you're into the club. There is one main room with a seperate chill out room with a bar hidden away, but the chill out room is hardly ever open. On entry you will be greated by the large dancefloor, which usually starts to fill up at about 10 on 'Essential' nights. Around the edge are several rows of seats all covered in elaborate coverings. The music is different every Essential night and it ranges from Pop to Hard House. The DJ is average, but can be reeeally annoying when he speaks over the music, right in the middle of songs. grrrr. The 'Essential Nights' are one night I would definetly recommend trying, and it makes a change from going to Zanzibar.
