Zanzibar on a monday night-S.H.A.G. at Zanzibar

Zanzibar is situated on Gravel Street just out of the main centre of leicester town. The exterior is rather large, with a main set of double doors leading into the reception area. Once you have paid up, you walk into the lobby area, which is quite impressive when clean! The floor is mosaic tiled and the whole area has a very Morrocan feel to it, with a large water fountain in the middle. On entry to the lobby there are a set of toilets to the left amd cash machines to the right. Straight ahead is the entry to the main room, and just to the right of that is entry to the smaller room called Cobarna.

The main room again attempts to have a Moraccan feel to it, but fails miserably, instead looks like the set of a bad seventies travel show, with old palm trees and cushy sofas. The main room is rather large, with a main bar in the middle, and a reasonable dance floor with a small stage. To the far right are two sets of small stairs leading to the V.I.P. area (which NEVER has VIPs, just students on bar crawls!) The smaller room, Cobarba, is quite a lot smaller, and has two bars, but several little alcoves with tables, perfect for hiding away with your pull of the night!

On a Monday night, entry is £3, but flyers are always handed out around campus for free entry, N.U.S. cards are essential for entry. The cloak room is a pound per item. Every monday night is a theme night. Recent nights include the chav part, school disco, foam party, or they have P.A.s such as Timmy Mallet! The main room plays cheese mainly, but theres always a short set of dance music. Cobarna is the r'n'b room, which plays r'n'b' and hip hop all night, but they will play some garage if you ask nicely enough. Drink range from 1.25 for cheap alcopops, wine and pints, about 1.75 for spirits and 2 pounds for well-known alcopops.

I go to zanzibar every monday, i enjy going a lot. We have a good night every week. Everyone in zanzibar on a monday night is completely wasted as every1 is students. I have never seen a fight in zanzibar and is for the most part a good-natured and fun club!
