right ziggy's was pure mint when i went! ace people ace music ace drinks
not one of those shit dance, RnB, Rave clubs it's for hardcore kids!
rock, punk, metal, hardcore it's all there just none of that shite you would get from a normal nightclub!
you got a problem with ziggy's then F**K off to be honest. where i live ziggy's is the place to be and any true rocker in north yorkshire will trek there like it's a pilgrimage so get lost all yew randomers and dont go if you dont like it no one forced you to go!
Ziggy's is simple, cheesey fun. The proper clubbing fans and pretentious amongst you wont like it, but if you take it at face value then you'll have a good time.Downstairs is dance is upstairs is rock with occasional lapdancing (thx to the girl who wore my cowboy hat!! haha).
The club is characterised by poor music, sweaty walls, narrow and dangerous staircases, with a notoriously chaotic and unruly que to get in, topped by overpriced drinks - although alcopops cost £1.50 a bottle, which is fine, except that most people prefer not to drink them all night.
Despite the great deal of hype surrounding Ziggys amongst the student population, the club will almost certainly disappoint. This is a judgement reached as a local who has visited the other clubs in York. It is true that the rock night can be good, however on all other nights it is undoubtedly a place to avoid.
Ziggys is the worse night club in York and as i have visited all of them in York i will not be returning to this one... i am a York resident, i have tried them all, i have also written reviews on the other two.
As you walk in to Ziggys there are some really scary decor and wiggly stairs, which is not good when i am wearing heels...
We eventually found the dance floor which was like going into some ones basement in an old forgotten house, with a dodgy bar and small steep stairs going down to it, there was a few people that fell down them in stead of walking down and that was at the beggining of the night before the beer, i dreaded going back up them after a few beers.. we only stayed for an hour as the music, the staff, the dance floor, the beer, the whole place was that bad that we had to leave.
Over all i could not find one good thing to say about this place, it looked like it was full of teenagers and the staff looked bored and didnt really want to be there, niether did we.
so when in York dont go there i have never been back and dont intend to...
Thanks for reading.
Last time I went there, I stuck to the carpet and woolley jim was sick over the stair hand rail into the basement.
It smells, its strange and there are better places to go where there are cheap drinks, unless you are a student, in which case all you students go to Ziggys, you will love it, its great, and it will keep you and your smelly jumpers out of the good pubs. you shouldnt be in there spending your grant money anyways.
Ziggy's is a converted house. Unfortunetly parts of it are still covered in the floral wall paper that your Grandma has in her living room. But seriousley it is a good night out. The drinks are cheap, cheaper than you would expect for York but I did go on student night. The music on the night I went was painfully cheesey, they just didn't hold back. But I have heard that they have a rock/indie/alternative night so check York University web page for more details on that, if that is more your scene. There are a few bars in there so the queues for drinks aren't too bad. Toilet queues were bad but they always are, aren't they? Don't miss the basement, I nearly did. It is the best part, I don't know why but people seemed to be having more fun down there. Anyway it is a good cheap night out. Make sure that you go on the night that is best suited for your music tastes, and check that there are some good drinks promotions on.
