Advantages: Keeps cafetiere coffee warm for much longer.

Disadvantages: Will need washing.

I do love my coffee. I am deeply fond of my cafetiere. And while I am a massive caffeine addict even I can't drink so much coffee so fast that the last mug in the press does not go cold and just that little bit horrid.

Or at least until I discovered this little marvel.

It is a coat for coffee. A nice snug jacket which insulates the glass where the heat loss from the glass is biggest and which fits elegantly as well as effectively around the body of the cafetiere.

Essentially it is an updated and far more effective and elegent tea cosy for coffee presses.

One made of Neoprene so it is a lot tougher than a knitted one from Great Aunt Mary and is also machine washable to keep it stylish despite the inevitable coffee drips.

I bought my first one years ago from John Lewis and after hard use and quite a lot of washing it finally gave up the ghost. So I headed over to Amazon and searched Bodum cosy - as I couldn't remember the proper name of this incredibly useful assistant to my trusty Bodum 12 cup coffee press. Amazon searches on Bodum coffee coat will give you a choice of colour, size and price.

My replacement for the Peter Jones redcoat cost £6.65 and arrived with Amazon's usual promptness. But alternative colours and ones fitting differing models of press do vary between £5.50 and £11.00. Once you identify the model of press you have and choose your colour you too can have coffee which stays hot and delicious for so much longer.

The new purple coat has proved as warming and effective as the old redcoat.

And my coffee remains deliciously warm and delicious for just as long.

Not something I would be without.

Summary: A little thing which makes life and coffee so much more delicious for much longer.
