Advantages: Very easy to use, wide variety of hot drinks available, pods stocked in most supermarkets

Disadvantages: The pods used can be expensive

Having read many strong reviews of this product, and having spent months looking for an effective coffee machine, I decided to treat my husband to it when it came up on sale in Argos. After using it for 6 months, we have not been disappointed.

One of the main points that lead us to consider the Dolce Gusto over other coffee machines available, was the unique, almost futuristic design, which fits in well in almost any kitchen. The wide variety of colours is also a huge advantage for those who, like me, like to coordinate appliances with the colour scheme of the kitchen.

There are a wide variety of beverages available which can be made in this machine, ranging from espresso, to latte, even decaff and hot chocolate, which is ideal if you have guests and want to offer them something beyond a normal cup of instant. The pod system that this machine uses is very easy to use, and makes minimal mess, making it an ideal addition to busy family life. Overall the machine takes about 30 seconds to heat up, and less than a minute to make each drink- perfect in the mornings.

The only down side is that the machine can only be used with Dolce Gusto pods, which sell at around £3 for a box of 8 drinks. However, if you register on the Dolce Gusto website, you will often be sent vouchers for free boxes, or money off, which cuts the cost quite considerably.

Overall I would say that this machine does what it says it does, and provides high quality drinks very quickly, but can easily get expensive, especially if you favour the drinks that require milk, as these use two pods per drink.

Summary: A good quality, and easy to use coffee machine, with a wide range of beverages
