Morphy Richards 47560
Advantages: Elegant and sleek looking, easy to use, keeps milk warm for a good time
Disadvantages: Its a gadget that I used a lot when I first had it but its expensive for what it is and does
In my house we had a little bit of a phase of trying out making our own milkshakes. I was shocked to see the price of them rise and rise in the supermarket and buying them from fast food places was really expensive. Combined with looking after my god daughter on a regular basis of a weekend we found that we wanted something to aid in the process and after looking around I found that there was the Morphy Richards Meno 47560 Milk Frother. I had heard from my friend that such appliances were available but that was about it and when I first looked I thought the milk frother was in fact a kettle! After looking around to find the best price I made a purchase of my new gadget. Here are my thoughts.
The best price for this appliance was on Amazon and it was about £46.00 when I brought it. This was actually slightly more than I wanted to pay but I had an Amazon voucher so this helped with the cost a little. I have looked online and the appliance will now cost you £51.00 so there has been quite an increase. I have only ever seen this in a large Curry's store when it comes to retailers but Amazon is still the best priced anyway.
When the milk frother arrived I found that it was well packaged and upon opening there was a detailed instruction booklet and a two year manufacturer's guarantee. The milk frother is made from brushed stainless steel and the only other colour on it is black. The Morphy Richards logo is on the front and then there is the just 2 buttons towards the bottom and on the front of the milk frother.
The buttons represent the two options that you get with the milk frother. There is the lower button that will simply froth the milk for your milkshake and then the top button will not only froth but heat the milk up as well. When doing my research for this product I soon saw that not only was it great for milkshakes but it could also froth the milk up for cappuccinos and lattes. There is a 300ml heating and frothing capacity whilst there is room for frothing 500ml of cold milk to make the milkshakes.
The product really is easy to use and whilst I sis have a good read of the instruction booklet provided, with the simple 'one touch' button on the front, all you needed to do was add the milk in at the top of the frother and begin the process. It is powered by 600 watts of power and it looks like a kettle as it sits on a base to allow the power to reach it. When using the milk frother I did not think that it was too noisy. Whilst it did make a noise it really was more of a buzz than anything to loud. There is a button that glows when the milk frother is switched on and then once done it will click off.
The result are good and strangely I have found that I use this more for making a variety of different coffees as opposed to making the milkshakes that it was first brought for, it is very efficient and it is also quick at warming the milk through. I have friends over of a weekend and when making the coffee rather than just offering the instant I can now mix the coffee up. It also keeps the milk warm for up to an hour. The milkshakes, when I do make them are great as it really does froth the milk. The only downside for me is that even though I paid the price, I really don't think that the price tag can be justified, it is good at what it does but it is just one of those other gadgets.
In summary, if you are going to make regular hot and cold drinks with this then yes, it would be good and as it is quick and has a good capacity it really will get the drinks made quick but for me it was one of those fads that I had and I guess I feel compelled to use it as it had a high price tag.
3 out of 5 from me on this one
Thank you for reading
Summary: A good and efficient way to froth milk but expensive as well
