Advantages: nice coffee, lattes and cappucinos

Disadvantages: few design faults

I have had this coffee machine for about 2 years now and although it does its job there are a number of niggly things which could do with being improved.

It is a nice looking machine in black and chrome with stainless steel and glass jugs, in 3 sections on the left hand side there is the filter coffee part, in the middle is the function for warming and frothing milk and at the right hand side is the espresso part.

starting with the filter coffee it enables you to make 10 cups although realistically if you have a mug this is more like 5, when you lift the lid it is akward to pour in the water and oftens spills leaving you with a pool of water to clean up, you have to use cold water in the machine however the coffee is never hot it is always lukewarm. the good thing is you can use whatever filter coffee you want so if you are fussy like me youcan pick your favourite brand.

Going on to the milk warmer and frother which is useful for lattes and cappucinos, i have found that again the milk does not heat up very well i always heat mine in the microwave first NOT IN THE METAL JUG EVERYONE I DONT WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MICROWAVES EXPLODING UP AND DOWN THE COUNTRY! then i pour it into the jug to keep warm and use the frother which has a habit of falling off into my now scalding hot milk and requires retrieval with a spoon. The end result is nice however it is a bit faffy and everything ends up covered in milk splashes.

Lastly the espresso maker has to be the most complicated part of the whole machine and again the espresso is only just warm it is akward to get the part to catch back in and i usually end up with more coffee on the drip tray than in the jug.

Just another note if you buy one of these machines the jugs are incredibily expensive and time consuming to replace if you happen to be clumsy and drop them on a tiled floor like me (when the machine is only a day old oops) so if you are offered an insurance on the machine for a reasonable price it could be worth taking.

All in all it makes nice coffee as long as you are prepared to clean up a bit of mess and put up with the deign faults.

Summary: does what it is supposed to just with a bit of mess

Good review. I don't know why MR persist in making this machine. I had a similar one for many years; the milk frother didn't really froth like industrial/more expensive coffee machines and it sounds as if your espresso experience is a bit like mine. End up having filter coffee with frothed milk which isn't exactly the same as thicker full bodied espresso.
