Advantages: Proper cappuccion's at home, easy to use, easy to clean, tastes great
Disadvantages: Machine is quite large
I love coffee as you might have found out from my Starbucks review but like everyone £3 a go for a cup gets a bit expensive sometimes so I decided to invest in a cappuccino machine, well let's say my Dad decided to invest for me and as he had the Morphy Richards Mister Cappuccino and loved it he decided to get me the same.
They cost approximately £59.99 and can be bought from most stores that sell homewares, Debenhams, Argos etc.
The machine is quite large so you will need a bit of counter top space in your kitchen to put it on. It is nice enough looking to have out on display all the time as it is quite heavy and awkward so I do not recommend moving it in and out of a cupboard every time you want to use it. Also, how many people have put away machines like this never to use them again, so go on, keep it out and maybe you will use it from time to time.
The machine allows you to make coffee in a number of ways. There is a large coffee pot on the left hand side that allows you to make filter coffee. It holds up to 10 cups of coffee and I find it is handy to put on if you have a lot of people coming over. There is a warming plate underneath it that will keep your coffee warm. The light below tells you when the coffee is ready, red light indicated still brewing and the green light indicated that you are ready to move the pot and pour. The filter coffee is very easy to make. Firstly what I like is that you do not need to buy individual coffee filters for this machine. The filter on top is plastic and has a wire mesh filter that can be used again and again. It is detatchable so you can take it of and wash it after each use.
The other side of the machine has an espresso maker. This coffee pot holds up to 6 cups of coffee and also has a warming pot underneath it. The espresso's are also very easy to make. You put your coffee in the little metal handle, attach it to the machine, fill the water up at the top and turn on. It takes a couple of minutes for the coffee to come through.
With both the filter coffee and the espresso coffee maker there is a lever you can push to choose whether you like your coffee strong on one end, or light or the other end.
In the middle of the machine is the milk frother. There is a little button you push and then the frother is dipped into the milk and whisks it. There is a metal jug that you put the milk in, in order to froth it. There is a warming plate under the jug as well so you can also warm up your milk beforehand if you like. I recommend frothing the milk for 2 minutes as this gets it nice and fluffy. The only downside is that it doesn't hold much milk so to do lots of cups of coffee it takes quite a while.
I always use Starbucks ground coffee for my cappuccino's as I love the taste but you can use this machine with any coffee you like, no need to buy the special coffee packets like with some other coffee machine.
This machine is very easy to clean too as lots of the parts come away from the machine so you can wash them in the sink and then the rest of the machine is easy to wipe clean with a cloth.
If you are looking for an easy and authentic coffee/cappuccino making machine at home then look no further.
Summary: If you love cappuccinos and want to make them professionally at home, now you can!
