We had been discussing for some time how we would like to have a coffee machine in our house. We wanted to have one and then something else always needed purchasing and as we classed it as a rather luxury item we were always putting it off, that was until my parents decided to give me their old one. It wasn't actually that old when they ... passed it onto us but they wanted a bigger and better model to go in their new kitchen so we took great advantage of wanting their cast offs! The model that we ended up having was the Morphy Richards Accents 47095 Digital Coffee Maker. Here are my thoughts on the product.
The coffee machine will cost around the £50.00 price tag but as we had this as a freebie I was more than impressed. I think my parents said they paid around the £40.00 price tag for it. The coffee machine can be brought from the Amazon website as well as from electric stores and I know that Argos stock the product. This is not a coffee machine that you need to add the coffee beans to as this was what we would have really liked but it is a coffee machine that you add the filter coffee to.
The coffee machine is a sleek looking deign that I think looks really good on my worktop. It is a mixture of black and chrome in colour and is quite symmetrical looking. The coffee machine looks even more modern and stylish by the fact it has the digital dial in the middle section of it, this will glow blue. The coffee machine comes with an easy clean filter and a jug that the coffee will filter into. I used to remember when a coffee machine had the filter papers with it and it was quite the effort getting it clean and tidy after use but this model is totally different to that.
The coffee machine can make up to 12 cups of coffee in 10 minutes. The most coffee that we have ever made in it is about 6 cups in one go. The coffee machine is very easy to use, it may look rather complicated with the fancy digital screen but you soon get used to it after a couple of goes. There is a thermostat hot plate that works well in keeping the cups of coffee warm if you are not ready to put them out but I would not recommend leaving the coffee to sit in there for too long as for me it does reduce in temperature quite quickly.
You soon get used to the amount of filter coffee that you need to add to the coffee machine, there are very clear instructions and the jug that comes with the coffee machine has measurements on. I will admit that it does take a little bit of getting used to with regard to the quantities but I have been really pleased with the flavour of the coffee and we haven't ended up making it to strong. There is a timer that comes with the coffee machine, we have only used it on a handful of occasions but when we have we have found the programing really easy to use and it has been of benefit.
I am glad that we were handed the coffee machine as a gift as although it is very reliable to use and it is always good at giving us a great drink, we do only tend to use it on the odd occasions and not on a regular basis, it is good for when you have a larger number of people over and it is great at making the drinks quickly but when it is just the two of us it doesn't tend to get used as much as it could.
The coffee machine is very easy to clean, as I mentioned at the beginning if the review, it is no longer the case of removing filter papers but the filter itself just needs a clean, the coffee machine can just be wiped down with a warm damp cloth.
In summary, I would be happy to recommend this product, it is efficient and effective at making the drinks but you do need to ensure you will us it enough to get your monies worth. I have no hesitation in suggesting the actual appliance itself.

As a coffee lover, I was immediately attracted to this machine. There's nothing I like more than a nice cup of coffee first thing in the morning, so the notion that I could use the digital timer programme on this machine so that it makes me a cup first thing in the morning really excited me. At £50, I thought I'd indulge myself.
...
Aside from the electronic programming feature, another thing that made me want this model over others was the large coffee jug, which can hold enough to make about 12 small cups which are kept warm by the warming plates on the machine's base. Me and my family can happily chug our way through the jug within a morning.
This coffee machine is very easy to use. Simply open the lid, add water 'til it reaches the level marker on the jug, stick in the coffee and start it up. The coffee it makes is actually very tasty. It tastes like the normal 'barista' style filter coffee you might find in chain coffee shops.
The removable filter makes it easy to clean without having to use filter papers. The outside of the unit can just be wiped down with a damp cloth if need be.
The machine is quite big compared to other models, but it's not ugly. Although it's large, it's thin and tall rather than wide and big, so it doesn't physically take up a lot of counter space. It sits in the corner of my kitchen quite unnoticeably.
You can also purchase this machine in a range of different colours: red, black, blue, green and tan. I think this all seems a bit gimmicky, but I guess it's a nice touch and would go with other products in the range.
Another thing to say about this machine is that it's not entirely necessary. You could live without it. I use it at weekends, but during the week it's just too much fuss and is fairly redundant. If you've got some Christmas vouchers or a spare bit of cash to burn, then go for it. If not, you can comfortably live without! Read the complete review |

We had been talking in our household for sometime about getting a coffee machine in our household. I must admit that I am not a big coffee drinker and do love my cups of tea but when having friends around rather than going to the jar of instant that sits in the cupboard we thought it would be nice to have a machine, we even worked out ... where a new appliance would go in our kitchen. My other half did the research for the coffee machine, being the coffee drinker in the house and he decided on the one that he wanted and we ended up with the Morphy Richards 47076 Coffee Maker and here are my thoughts on the project.
We set about by having a rough budget of paying no more than £50.00 for the coffee machine and this model cost us a total of £39.99 so at least it was within the price scale we had set and also met all of the specifications that we wanted. We made the purchase from the Amazon website, we do a lot of buying from the store and I had no worries about placing the idea with them. We had however spotted the coffee machine in Comet and so we were able to have a look at it before we made the purchase from Amazon. Amazon was a couple of pound cheaper as well.
The coffee machine arrived and it was in a well packaged box. Upon opening I saw that there was a detailed instruction manual as well as a one year manufacturer's guarantee. What I liked was that there was a detailed booklet on getting started with some diagrams. I have never used a machine before, well years ago when you had to use filter papers. There is basically the coffee machine and then the wires that need to be plugged in to give the device power.
The coffee machine consists of chrome and black design as well as the jug which is clear so you can see the coffee brewing away. The coffee machine has a sleek look and sits well in the kitchen. There is a large dial on the front of the machine as well as the Morphy Richards name; this is discreetly placed at the top.
The main advertising for this product is that it claims to make 12 cups of coffee in 10 minutes, not bad! There is a thermostatic plate that the jug sits on and a heat resistant carafe. I thought that the coffee machine looked fairly easy to use and in all honesty it was. There is a side flap for the water to be added, clear water level measurements are on the side as well as there being a measure on the jug. There is just the addition of the coffee that needs to be added then. The coffee that we brought was just standard filter coffee and there was a scoop that came with the machine that allows you to add the coffee in. All that you really need to do then is switch the coffee machine on and you are ready to go.
The coffee machine is quite quick and you hear it gurgling away whilst it makes the drink. There is also the lovely scent that fills the house when making this drink. All that was left was to taste the drink. I had a coffee, even though it is not my preferred drink and I have to say that I wish the drink was a little bit warmer. For me the coffee should be piping hot and in this it just wasn't piping. My other half said he didn't really notice it but when I gave my Mum a coffee she also said she would like to see her drink a little bit warmer.
The coffee machine is easy to clean, the jug just needs a rinse and there is no messing around with the filter paper like I used to remember so it is a really quick processes.
In summary, I have to say the temperature issues did leave us a little disappointed, we do use the coffee machine on a regular basis and for most it is fine, its just a little annoying that I have to explain this and offer to warm a drink up in the microwave!
3 out of 5 from me on this one
