Nescafe Original
by DirtyDonkey
There is something about having a jar of Nescafe in the cupboard that is so very reassuring.
I've tried cheaper instant coffees, more expensive instant coffee, supermarket own brands, filter, ground and even once (but never again!) that stuff out of a bottle that looks like, and tastes like gravy browning!.
Always end up ... coming back to Nescafe Original, the quality is always consistent, and, as I like my coffee quite strong, works out reasonably economic.
Cheaper coffees often need two or three spoons to get a bit of taste out of them and dearer coffees can be stronger but somewhat bitter to my palette.
Must be granules though, not powder, and, if you don't mind I'll make it myself just to get the right mix of strength and exactly the correct amount of milk.
Another plus point is Nescafes ability to remain drinkable from a vacuum flask, unlike many other coffees which become bitter if left hot for any period of time.
Having worked in catering for many years I cannot emphasis the importance of using a quality coffee like Nescafe Original. Whether for a morning pick-me-up before breakfast, or a relaxing after dinner treat the brand is the only one to consistently hit the spot.
Unlike other brands, it never scums up, never tastes 'burnt' through overproccessing, always dissolves correctly and has a constant rich consistency.
Perhaps my only gripe is seeing the 50% extra free jars in another supermarket just after buying a months supply. Read the complete review |

Starbucks Toffee Nut Latte
by rachieb123
I am a fan of Starbucks, mostly because I enjoy getting the seasonal flavored syrups in my coffee! Starbucks do several Christmas seasonal lattes, one of which is the Toffee Nut latte which is my second favourite, my first of course being the gingerbread latte which I previously reviewed. Getting a Christmas latte from Starbucks signals ... the start of the festive season for me!
I always get my lattes with one shot of coffee and with soy milk, they generally end up being quite sweet, especially once you add toffee nut syrup to them so if you are not a bit of a sweet tooth then this wont be for you. If however, you like sweet coffee, are a fan of toffee and nut flavors then I would highly recommend trying this. The syrup does give the coffee a very strong toffee taste, generally the baristas will put nutmeg on top to give it a warm nutty flavor also. The best thing about this is that Starbucks also release the red Christmas cups around the time they start serving these drinks, which just adds to the Christmas feel.
I really enjoy this coffee, however if you are watching your calories then be careful as the syrups do pack some extra calories in them! I don't think the toffee nut syrup comes in a sugar free version, but to lower the calories of the coffee overall get skim milk and don't get any cream on top!
Otherwise, enjoy! 5/5! Read the complete review |

Emmi Caffé Latte Cappuccino
by xxfoxyredxx
Tonight me and my mate popped to our local Tesco store to get a few essentials and we picked up a couple of these to try as they are currently on offer for 69p a drink opposed to a pound each usually and we fancied trying them.
The Packaging:
The drink comes in a plastic cup with a foil lid to the top of it and then ... over that there is a removable plastic lid with a hole in it you can drink the drink out of if you want to. The cup has colourschemes or reds and on the front of it we are clearly told what it is and who it is by, then on the back of it we are told a littel bit about the drink, the ingredients used and the nutritional details are fully listed, the size is stated which is 230ml and contact details for the manufacturer are given. Please note the drinks we had are in festive packaging at the moment but are the same drinks as the ones that are usually in the brown and white cups and I do appreciate the cup as it is informative enough and easy to handle and so on.
The Drink Itself:
Eell this is a dark looking cappuccino and it is meant to be drunk cold. Its a strong but smooth coffee this one, and thickened slightly though it isn't a thick drink but tastes and looks smooth and it is sweetened in a sugary way and not an artificial one and I feel this has got a couple of teaspoons added of real sugar to each cup. It is suitable for Vegetarians and we really liked this one alot though recognise it may be a tad too sweet for some people to cope with. With 136kcals a drink and 4% total fats I think this is a lovely refreshing treat though I could fast get addicted to these I think they are quite simply Lush!
Available from all good supermarkets etc. Read the complete review |
