“ Brand: Boaters / Type: Flavoured coffee „
We bought loads of Boaters flavoured instant coffees a while ago when a local shop have a massive selection for only a pound a jar. They are usually a lot more than this. I am going to review them all as they are a bit hit and miss.
There are over 40 flavours of Boaters available. Their website is www.boaters.co.uk and offer free postage and packing on orders over £40. I think it would make a good gift hamper for a coffee lover to select a load of different flavours as a present. They are currently £2.35 for 50 gram jars of the flavoured instant coffees.
The Creamy Caramel instant coffee was ok but not a big hit with me or my family. There is very little smell when you open the packet other than of coffee. When you add boiling water, a slightly sweet smell comes off the coffee. However, when you taste it, bizarrely, the caramel taste is pretty strong. I do not like it because it is too sweet. I only like half a sugar in a mug of coffee and to me, this instant coffee tasted as though I had added two teaspoons of sugar - it was that sweet. I also found that it was pretty sickly if you added any milk. The combination was just too much, and I like to add quite a bit of milk the thicken up my instant coffee. If you like your coffee very sweet then you will probably really enjoy this coffee but as someone who prefers to be able to taste the coffee, this was a disappointment.
I do not like bitter coffee and what coffee I could taste was not bitter at all. This is why I think that deep down it is actually a nice coffee, just far too sweet and sickly for me.
Once it is made up, it has such a lovely golden colour to the drink. It looks very appealing.
If you have a sweet tooth when it comes to hot drinks, give this a go. If you like to be able to taste your coffee, don't bother!
