“ Type: Filter Coffee „
We have only had our cafetiere coffee maker for a couple of months so we are still trying different coffee makes to see which we prefer. We decided to buy our cafetiere after our recent stay near Edinburgh where almost everywhere our coffee was served in cafetieres and we really liked this. We wish now that we had asked which coffee they used, particularly at the Prestongrange Industrial Museum where we had the best coffee. At the moment we are using the Douwe Egberts – Le Café – Mild Real Coffee and we do quite like this one, although it is not really outstanding. We don’t like very strong coffee so this strength One coffee does suit us. The coffee is a slowly roasted South American coffee and has a beautiful aroma. There is a real challenge getting the blue bag open, but I suppose it does mean that the bag is definitely airtight. The coffee should keep its taste for up to three weeks after opening and should be stored in a fridge. We find that one decent size spoonful of the coffee per person is just about right, and we then leave it for about 2 minutes before serving it. The ground coffee is large enough that we do not get any coffee pieces in our drink, it is all contained in the cafetiere. If you take sugar with your coffee I would recommend brown sugar as this helps to enhance the taste of this coffee. You can find out more about this coffee and other Douwe Egberts coffees on their website at: http://www.douwe-egberts.co.uk Overall this mild coffee is a pleasant drink, but our hunt goes on for an outstanding coffee.
