Douwe Egberts Pure Gold
Advantages: Tasty, medium roast
Now and again I like to mix my cup of instant coffee up a bit and instead of just sticking with regular Nescafe I like to try different instants. One of my favourite ones that I have discovered in the last couple of years is this Douwe Egberts Pure Gold.
I don't like my coffee too strong and prefer a milkier coffee like a latte or a cappuccino and so was pleased to find these granuales as they are described on the front of the jar as a medium roast coffee. On the back of the jar, Douwe Egberts ask you to, "experience the taste and aroma of Douwe Egberts Pure Gold." It is made from a blend of the finest quality beans and has a medium and well balanced flavour, making it the perfect cup of coffee at any time of the day.
I find this coffee really smooth and golden and really easy to drink if that makes sense. Its warming and welcoming and has a really lovely familiar flavour that you will want to come back to.
The coffee has a strength which in indicated on the side of the jar. The strength goes from 1 to 5 and this is a strength 3 coffee as the number 3 is circled. I don't like my coffee too strong but I want something with a bit of boldness so a middle strength is perfect for me. The beans are a fairly light brown colour, not too dark but when you open the jar you are hit with a really bold intense lovely coffee smell. Once you have added your hot water you get a nice strong but smooth flavour and something that is a bit different to regular coffee.
The coffee comes in a really nice clear glass jar so has an attractive packaging and I think this also adds to the more upmarket look to it. The jar has a glass lid which has a suction cap on it so when the lid is on it keeps the coffee well protected and nice and fresh and the last spoonful is still as good as the first spoonful. In fact this jar reminds me exactly of the Yankee Candle glass jars which is kind of funny. I have a small jar at the moment, just 100g which I think is a good size and this will probably last me about a month as I am the only one in my house who drinks coffee apart from guests.
Their quality guarantee says that at Douwe Egberts they have been passionate about making great tasting coffee for over 250 years. Their coffees have a delicious smooth taste and unique coffee aroma. The Douwe Egberts signature is your guarantee that you will enjoy the best quality every time.
All in all a lovely coffee that I recommend.
