Advantages: Smooth taste

Disadvantages: Easy to make, leaves a residue at the bottom of your mug

I am not a huge coffee drinker, but every now and then I will have a cup, my husband recently bought Kenco Millicano, he paid £3.99 for a 100g tin. The tin is 100% recyclable and is made using 50% recycled materials. The tin comes with a pop of lid and the first time you use open it, it has thick tin foil ring pull to detach.

The coffee is marketed as Kencos first 'Wholebean Instant coffee, which contains 15% whole bean and the rest is made up of instant coffee. The coffee is not quiet a powder nor is it granules, it is basically a mixture of both. The coffee beans used are Arabica beans that have been 100% sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified TM farms - which means you are doing your little bit for the environment each time you have a cup.

The coffee is quite strong smelling when you open the tin and I used a heaped teaspoon, added hot water and then milk. The coffee was smooth and quite velvety and is fairly full-bodied, I definitely felt the caffeine kick after I had finished. Overall I would say that it was nice tasting coffee, but the thing that put me off was it does not really dissolve that well and you are left with gritty residue at the bottom of your cup, which you do not tend to get with proper ground coffee. Overall I would say that I will finish the jar, or at least my husband will and I will stick to alternatives.

Overall I would not recommend this product to others, as currently there are better products on the market in my opinion, if you are after a proper cup of coffee there really is no substitute to using freshly ground beans.
