Advantages: Taste, quality, jar, good value
I love coffee (I'm a bit addicted!) and Kenco is the brand that I buy most often as it's good quality but still affordable. I've been buying the 'really rich' version of Kenco coffee for around a year now and I really like it.
I'm not usually brand loyal but I always reach for this when I need a new jar of coffee and I usually stock up whenever it's on offer too. I usually buy this from Tesco but it is available from all supermarkets and a wide range of other shops.
A 200 gram jar retails at around £6.30 and a smaller 100 gram jar is around £3.20. 150 gram re-fill packs are also available for £5ish. I usually buy the 200 gram jar as this lasts me for around a month and although £6 for a jar of coffee seems expensive, 200g lasts me and my boyfriend for around a month which I think is good value and it tastes high quality too.
The coffee is freeze dried and Kenco state that it has 'intense richness'. It comes in a very sturdy glass jar which is transparent, meaning that the large, dark brown coffee granules can be seen. The jar is an unusual shape and it looks and feels good quality.
There's a blue label on the front which is nicely designed and it has the coffee type written on it as well as the brand and product name. The chunky blue plastic lid is easy to remove and securely screw back on again and there's a foil covering that needs to be removed - this means that the coffee has been kept nice and fresh.
The coffee itself is nice and chunky granules - not powder. Although the granules are chunky, they dissolve into the water quickly and no lumpy/gritty bits are left floating around. I usually use 3-4 teaspoons of average coffee but as this is rich I find that two teaspoons is enough, so a jar lasts for quite a while.
This smells amazing - fresh, rich and natural - there's no weird tones to the scent and it tastes amazing too. It's smooth and very rich in flavour and it tastes incredibly fresh and just like coffee should taste. It's very tasty and I find that a mug of this in the morning really wakes me up. It's not too bitter and there's no funny aftertaste.
Overall highly recommended.
Summary: Great quality coffee
