Advantages: Fabulous coffee, smooth taste
Disadvantages: a little on the expensive side
I never used to drink coffee, but after an operation 3 years ago, I couldnt eat, and discovered that if I made coffee with milk, I was getting a "food" supplement with the milk.
I started off with Nescafe original, but after a friend's recommendation I tried Nescafe Gold Blend. Nescafe which is a brand made by Nestle, can be traced back as far as the 1930's, so it is a well known household name. What a beautiful premium coffee, it has a smooth taste, but the later additions are an even richer taste. Its made from golden roasted coffee beans, is freeze dried and it took 9 years to come up with this perfect result.
Between the 80's and 90's, there was a television series made to promote this coffee called "Love over Gold" staring Anthony Head, and Sharon Maughan. It was a good little collection for advertisements.
Back to the Gold now, it comes in different size jars, you can usually pick up a 100g jar from most shops, from around £3 to £3.50p. I find you can get a 200g jar from places like Aldi, Lidl, and sometimes Asda for around £5 on offer, which isn't very often, but worth stocking up on if you are a dedicated coffee drinker which I am now. It comes in cafe size tins also, which are cheaper in places like Costco, and there are also the small handbag size (hotel) satchets, which come in packs of 12 for approximately £1.50p. These are really handy as I keep a couple in my bag, if I go somewhere visiting and I know they are not coffee drinkers, or maybe they use a cheaper coffee, or if I just feel like a tasty cup of coffee these come in very handy.
There is also a Freephone number on the back of the jars to help with any queries you may have which is 0800 58 57 59 (UK) or 00800 6378 5385 (ROI) and also an email address www.nescafe.co.uk.
Nescafe are also providing 4 million coffee trees, and training Colombian farmers with the Nescafeplan.
I make mine with milk instead of water, and add squirty cream to the top, sprinkled with a few chocolate sprinkles, mmmmmmmmmm yummy, or you can have it the reserved way, the Gold Blend made with water, topped up with milk, to wake you up of a morning, or perk you up in the afternoon.
The jars for this product have vastly improved too, they now do it in stylish jars with a sort of "waistline" pinch to it,and have a lovely coloured golden lid. I put these jars to great use, as I do little sweet displays for my children and grand children, after washing them out a couple of times, I fill them with colourful sweets, and do a little arrangement on top, so it also helps with the re-cycling which I am strongly into.
Great coffee, great taste. Great use for the jars too.
Summary: fabulous coffee, highly recomend, just wish it was a little cheaper
