A reliable instant coffee
Member Name: SoadFan
Advantages: Strong reliable flavour
Disadvantages: May not suit all tastes
Nescafe has to be one of the most widely purchased instant coffee products that you can buy, as it has a strong dark flavour that appeals to those who like a nice strong cup of coffee. I have bought this particular product on numerous occasions and am still making my way through a large sized 500gm tin of Nescafe that I bought some time ago. I would say that Nescafe makes a strongly flavoured coffee drink that works well when drunk without milk, yet can be made in to a nice frothy/ milky based coffee drink too, as it has enough flavour and depth to fight its way through.
As far as prices go I find that Nescafe can be expensive for what it is, although I have been lucky enough to have been able to buy some of the larger 500gm tins a while ago for considerably less than they are generally on sale for. The 500gm tins can be as much as £14 or as little as £11 in some stores and I feel it pays to shop around for the best deal. The advantage that the tinned product has over the glass jar products is that you do tend to get more product for your money, however you do need to factor in the need for a glass jar in to which you can decant the tinned coffee as and when needed, as it is not overly convenient to use the coffee straight from a tin in my opinion.
I find that I don't really need very much of this coffee to be able to make a strongly flavoured drink. A little Nescafe really can go a long way in my opinion, making it last longer than many weaker coffee blends. I feel that anyone who dislikes these kinds of super strong blended instant coffees would be better off opting for another product instead, as Nescafe really does come across as being a powerfully strong instant coffee product. I find that the Nescafe coffee granules are very light and easy to mix with freshly boiled water as required, with no grittiness left in the drink once everything has dissolved fully.
I find that Nescafe is a good standby for use as an instant coffee drink as you don't need to mess around , or spend ages measuring things out, as a simple teaspoon is a quick and easy measuring item that works well in most cases. A heaped teaspoon will make a stronger coffee drink in my experience and a half heaped teaspoon will suffice for those who like their coffee really weak. The flavour of this coffee is generally very reliable with one jar or tin having contents that tastes as good as the next in my opinion, as long as it is stored in dry, airtight conditions.
My rating for Nescafe as an instant coffee product is 4 stars, as I feel it is a reliable strong tasting instant coffee that appeals to many coffee drinkers. Of course this in no way compares with freshly ground coffee products in terms of taste, but it does score highly in terms of convenience and reliability. Prices can be a little high at times and it really is best to shop around for the lowest prices when you can.
