Nestlé Coffee Mate
Advantages: Tastes great
Disadvantages: Some varieties are a bit on the fattening side
Coffee-mate is traditionally an alternative to adding milk or cream to your coffee, but in recent years has also become more of a coffee flavouring and coffee creation. It is available in different forms; there is the liquid, the powder, the concentrate, the reduced fat and the sugar free. Coffee-Mate is made by nestle and has been around for years and years with new additions and flavours added regularly.
Traditional coffee-mate is in the form of a dried power that is stirred into hot coffee. It gives a simple cup of coffee a really rich and creamy taste, it reminds me of coffee and cream only with a slight froth. This costs around £1.70 for 500grams
The latest creation in the Coffee-Mate line is called Latte Creations.
Latte creations are available in double choca-mocha, Mocha, Vanilla and original. These are designed not only as an alternative to milk or cream but to actually transform standard coffee into different flavoured lattes. To make you simply pour the sachet into a mug, pour in boiling water and stir very well, and voila your latte is ready. I have tasted the Double-Choca Mochas and its great. It transforms your coffee into a frothy, creamy, chocolate tasting, milky latte. On average each sachet contains 83 kcals and 2grams of fat, which is a lot for a cup of coffee. Each flavour is available in a 260 gram jar and costs around £2
Coffee-mate liquid is a bottle of liquid that adds fantastic flavourings to coffee. It is available in the following flavours-
Cinnamon vanilla crème
Fat free cinnamon vanilla crème
Fat free French vanilla
Fat free hazelnut
French vanilla hazelnut
Sugar free French vanilla
Sugar free hazelnut
Sugar free vanilla caramel
I have tasted Cinnamon Vanilla Crème and Irish Crème.
Cinnamon Vanilla Crème gives your coffee a sweet vanilla aroma with a spicy cinnamon aftertaste. I love it
The Irish Crème, well exactly as it states. Coffee with a whiskey cream taste, lovely
Each liquid comes in a small (32oz0 plastic bottle with a red flip cap making it easy to pour). Each bottle costs around £3.
The concentrate is simply a stronger more concentrated version of the liquid however is only available in French vanilla and hazelnut. I have never used or in fact seen the concentrate anywhere so I cannot comment on taste or price.
Coffee mate bring out limited edition/seasonal flavour such as Ginger bread and pumpkin spice.
I find coffee mate to be a really tasty and interesting addition to coffee. I find it well price but you have to take it easy on some varieties due to the fat and calorie content.
The only drawback I have found is finding a place that stocks a large variety of coffe-mate, generally a store ill only stock a few
Summary: Good, interesting addition to your coffee
