“ Brand: Phoenix / Type: Flavoured coffee „
I had a cafetierre for Xmas and it came with a few different flavoured coffees from Phoenix Coffees including this Rich Hazelnut one. I thought they was all yummy and thought I'd LOVE this because anything with hazelnut in it, this one is a bit weird tasting though and the coffee doesn't go all that good with the nutty flavour.
The flavour isn't very strong of hazelnuts and the coffee just takes over, I think that's why the flavours don't go together very well because the coffee is mega strong tasting and it covers the nuts. It's a big shame because the hazelnut coffee from Starbucks and places like that is wicked and I would have LOVED to have been able to make it myself at home.
You use 4 spoons of the coffee in a cafetierre of hot water, don't use boiling water because you won't get the right flavour and I think it's to do with mega hot water burning the coffee. While this is brewing you get a lovely rich coffee flavour, there's a bit of a nutty smell to it but the taste doesn't come through and I wish it would better than this!
I don't even think this is a very nice coffee, it would be I reckon if the hazelnut flavour wasn't there because even though the coffee covers the nutty taste the nutty taste ALSO does something weird to the coffee flavour! lol It means that a cup of this doesn't taste as rich as any of the other flavours of phoenix coffee I've tried but at the same time you can't even enjoy it as a plain cup of coffee that much because it's a bit weird tasting.
If you're going to try a flavoured coffee from Phoenix Coffee then you should try another one, this is the most disappointing one I've tried.
Not recommended...... and that's a big time shame!!!
