Tesco Colombian Roast & Ground Coffee
I don't buy fresh ground coffee that often but when I do it occurs to me that I really should treat myself to it more often. When I so buy it I tend to go for coffee that is on offer or a reasonable price and Tesco's own brand ground coffees are just that.
The Pack
The Colombian Roast & Ground Coffee comes in a very distinctive coffee bag, it is a bright yellow colour with huge bold, black letters down the front of the pack saying the flavour of the coffee, 'Columbian'. The packet is fairly plain and simple; there is no artwork or pretty pictures. On the back of the pack are the ingredients, product info and instructions for use.
The pack is the typical foil sealed coffee packet that keeps the coffee inside fresh and safe. You can either pull or cut open the top of the bag and reseal it when you have used it.
The Coffee
Tesco's Columbian Roast & Ground coffee looks like any other freshly ground coffee to be honest - brown, finely grained coffee remains. On opening the packet you get a burst of fresh coffee flavour, it's lovely and intense.
This Columbian coffee is rated as a medium strength coffee drink (3 out of 5 on the Tesco coffee scale) and I would totally agree with this rating, I have had a lot stronger and weaker in freshly ground coffee products before, this is a good middle ground which I prefer. Tesco describe this as having a rounded, smooth and nutty flavour to it, with some sweetness. The coffee when brewed is very rich and not too intense or bitter to taste.
It tastes like a very high quality coffee, which is what I would expect from a Columbian coffee. I am not sure that I get much nuttiness coming though in the flavour, but I do take a dash of milk in my coffee which may mellow the flavour somewhat. It goes down very smoothly and is a lovely rich hit of coffee. This contains Arabica Coffee Beans (100%) and is vegetarian.
This packet of coffee costs £2.28 for a 227 g packet, which will make approximately 20 pots of coffee, depending on how strong you make it! Very nice taste and price to boot!
Summary: A good priced and tasty coffe from Tesco's own ground range
