After running out of Carte Noire coffee, my office replaced it with a pot of Tesco Gold - "can't be much different" - I think to myself. How wrong was I? Despite desperately needing my caffeine fix my mug of Tesco Gold gets colder by the minute, it is utterly repugnant! I am not a coffee snob - at home I am vary between grinding my own coffee beans to drinking instant depending on the mood, but this is by far the worst I have ever tasted.

Please note, I wrote this review before I was pregnant and have since switched to caffeine free coffee but this reflects my views at the time of drinking this particular coffee. This is a review of Tesco Gold freeze dried coffee. In the interest of keeping our shopping bills down I decided we would try this instead of getting ... Read the complete review

I am a complete coffee addict and would probably be found sucking used filters if I dared run out. Luckily I have so many coffees in the house including fresh and instant that this isn't really likely to ever happen. I was sick of my nieces and sister coming in and drinking my good coffee (I'm not miserable but they don't even like ... Read the complete review

I normally drink Nescafe Gold or Douwe Egberts but being a slight self confessed coffee addict, drinking up to 10 cups per day I was finding that it was getting too expensive and so I wanted to find a cheaper alternative. I am of the mindset that you should always try something once and so when browsing the coffee selection in my local ... Read the complete review

Some of the reviews within the last 3 months who gave it high rating obviously had been lucky and selected stock remaining on the shelves from the previous supplier. This new stock from the new supplier is really vile.Even with evaporated milk and a good dose of sugar it still tasted bitter.

I have drunk this brand of coffee for the last few years, and usually it's great. I bought 2x200g jars in my last shop, but the both taste absolutely revolting. Not sure if it's a bad batch, but something is definitely wrong here. It tastes like smoked salmon! No kidding! I don't want my coffee to taste of smoked fish.

I don't normally buy supermarket own brand instant coffee as they are usually of very poor quality. However, after reading several good reviews of Tesco Gold coffee I decided to give it a try, and was pleasantly surprised how good it was - a notch down from Nescafe Gold Blend maybe, but nonetheless a very decent instant coffee. ... If I had to choose between a cup of tea of a cup of coffee, I'd choose tea every time. However, on occasion I do like a good cup of coffee. We normally buy Nescafe Gold Blend and buy it in the refill packs and refill our glass jars as it saves a bit, bit lately we have been buying a jar of Tesco's own brand coffee - Tesco Gold. This ... I am really a tea drinker, but do enjoy a cup of coffee mid morning.I have always bought Nescafe gold as I like the taste although not the price! Having read several positive reviews for Tesco gold coffee I decided to give it a try for myself. Tesco gold coffee is packaged in a glass jar and looks very similar like the ... I am admittedly a coffee addict. I drink it quite often all day. I tend to drink this Tesco Gold coffee in the mornings through to lunch time and then swap to the Tesco Decaf in the evenings so I am not wired before I go to bed. Tesco Gold prices comparisons: ================== I always tend to stock up ... Read the complete review

Has the formula changed?I have been enjoying this coffee for years but the one I bought last week has a notable change to the taste. There seems to be an unpleasant after taste that I would associate with coffee brought from a pound shop.

I have up until fairly recently been a devout tea drinker, but I have had a few months of cramming loads of things into every day, so I reverted back to coffee like I used to drink. I know it is not good for me, but it it a comforting pick me up to get through the day. I've always drank Nescafé just because that was the brand ... Read the complete review

The change in supplier of this coffee has not been for the better. The coffee now tastes REALLY cheap, and I shall be returning 2 jars to store for a refund. Yuk.Hopefully Sainsburys have retained their "Gold" supplier. If so, I shall be buying a case!

I buy this product all the time and recently bought a jar which was in a new shape! On opening it i found it was not the same coffee - very cheap tasting with a horrible after-taste! On complaining to Tesco I was told there had been a change of supplier! I certainly won't be buying this coffee again!!!!

I found a bargain in Tesco recently, I found myself in the supermarket with the wrong card (disastrously wrong, I'd picked up the Shell card) and limited cash - buying everything I needed came scarily close to the limit and to fit coffee in it had to be cheap or not at all. I remember someone on here recommending Tesco Gold and when I ... Read the complete review

Coffee is my drink of choice. For years the coffee I bought was Nescafé Gold Blend. Then, when my hubby was made redundant a while back I had to make some savings on our budget and Nescafé Gold Blend was one of the things that had to go. Looking round at all the alternatives, I saw Tesco Gold and thought I'd give it a go. ... Read the complete review

Tesco gold freeze dried coffee Having two young children and squeezing in 30 hours of work every week, I have found that coffee has almost become a necessity in helping me to wake me up and keeps me going throughout the day. My partner and I both drink quite a lot of coffee. When my brother, who also loves coffee came ... Read the complete review

Tesco Gold Coffee When I was away off camping during the summer months, which feels like such a long time ago from now, one of the first food items I thought to bring beside the marshmallows for toasting was a jar of coffee. When we were in Tesco picking up supplies I thought to save a few pennies as we were buying quite ... Read the complete review

When it comes to cheap coffee, this one isn't too bad, and is the only coffee I'll drink bar Kenco! I don't know what makes it taste so good; it's literally Tesco's own, but not Tesco Value, coming in a glass jar with a brown label stating 'Tesco Gold' and a brown lid that screws on top. You can buy them in 100g, 200g, and ... Read the complete review
