      Very helpful

Having to do programming on the Web is not an easy task. You not only have to learn a language like Java, or Perl, you might have to know things like URL encoding, MIME handling, CGI mechanism, other scripting languages like JavaScript or VBScript and loads of other stuff depending on what you plan to do. I found that learning how to use Allaire's ColdFusion easier than doing all that and that's the reason I think it is great. Allaire, who are also the makers of the wonderful piece of HTML authoring tool HomeSite, made Web programming easy by introducing a brilliant programming protocol. It was designed to resemble HTML and as such easy to learn if you already know HTML. Called CF tags, it takes the intricacies of Web programming away by making powerful functions out of them. Simple to learn yet powerful. I have to say the biggest drawback to using this piece of software is the price attached to it. It is quite expensive, the Web site says it's $1295 for the Windows version and I believe it. But I suppose that's because it is reliable and very secure plus the cost of the support you get out of it. You could try downloading the evaluation version from the Web site (www.allaire.com) though to see what I mean.
