e-Campaign is a mass-emailing program allowing you to email out your website's newsletters and special offers. It is available to download from: www.lmhsoft.com where you can take a free trial to see if you like it.
The trial edition limits you to sending your message to 50 addresses and also adds a footer onto your email - because of this, you'll have to upgrade to the fully-featured version. There are 2 paid-for versions available: Standard (Euro150) and Business (Euro280). The standard edition limits you to 2000 address per mailing while the Business edition has no limitations.
But is it any good? Well, once downloaded, you'll see that the interface is nice and clean and things are relatively self-explanatory... Click New Mailing Job to create a new email and you'll be presented with a new window that looks pretty much like you're writing an email in Outlook or Thunderbird. You can type your email as text or create it as HTML using the code view button. It's very easy to personalise your emails... if you want to enter a recipient's name, simply enter (%Name%) and the mail merge will personalise every email for you - presuming that Name corresponds to the title of your data.
All you need now is a mailing list to send it to - you can either add a CSV file or use the Business Edition's advanced features to connect directly to a database. I can't comment on how easy this is as I always supply a CSV of names and email addresses.
Once the data has been added, click Send and e-Campaign will get to work! The delivery of messages can take several hours (depending on the size of the email and the size of your mailing list). You can then use the software's delivery log to see which messages haven't been delivered.
I like e-Campaign, it's a good piece of software, but I do feel that the price is quite high. It also lacks any real delivery statistics, such as percentage of emails read, forwarded, deleted, links visited etc.
