	Ipswitch WS_FTP Pro ... is a reasonable piece of free software for uploading or downloading files. I've been using it for about a year now, and although there are simpler, and also more complex programmes around, this one has a good balance of features. It's not too complicated, and still has all the features you may want from a "file transfer protocol" proggie. I wasn't that experienced with computers, or FTP (file transfer protocol) when I started. So, I did find it a little confusing at first: to fill in all the remote site details etc. There are a few fields that look like they need to be filled in, but are unnecessary for my needs. 	Ipswitch WS_FTP Pro ... or file transfer protocol is a scary acronym when you are first starting on the web, but there's no need to worry it's not that scary. FTP is the main method of transferring files around the web,the place most people first encounter FTP is when uploading websites. This is where I first found FTP download / upload products to be a bit of a nightmare, user friendly they ain't all caked in jargon and techy stuff. Nope all I wanted was a simple push and go transfer device to shift my index page and Gif’s onto my ISP’s site, then as chance would have it I found an xmas pressy that I had forgotten about. 	Ipswitch WS_FTP Pro ... and easy is how I like to describe WS FTP. Downloads these days more often use HTTP but FTP is still the most robust method. WS FTP, written by IPswitch, contains all the features you could need for easy up and download of data. I will only use WS for uploading large (>30Mb) files because it is so reliable over latent connections giving a full report of speed and volume transfered that is accurate. The interface is uncluttered and simple. Pick the site to connect to, there are many added by default at install, and click on 'connect'.
