Oh Kazaa what ever next!

So far Kazaa has released lots of different versions over the time it’s been running they claim to be getting better but are they?

The latest version which is 2.0, all new graphics different layout, but are there bugs well yes of course there are all programs have bugs. But I find the last version was quicker on logging on what’s the point of bringing out a new version when the last one was O.K in design, I give them a big thumbs up by saying that the anti virus checker which is integrated into the program is a very nifty feature!

Now about the main thing itself, mainly Kazaa is a P2P this stands for peer to peer, in other words computer to computer.

The main idea of Kazaa is to allow users to download different files from other peoples computers, these files are kept in a certain folder, and anything that is placed in this folder is available for people to download off you.

So how do you use it and what are all them other little buttons up the top there?

So you start up Kazaa from your program list, and if it is the first time you will be asked to enter a username and password so you can log in to the service, if you enter a name already used it will ask you to enter a different username (the easiest way is to just add a number on the end)

If you have already logged yourself in you will have to wait for it to log you in, this will be done automatically, you will see this being done in the bottom right hand corner of the program, it will say “Connecting” when it’s connecting! And then it will say Connected as username@Kazaa sharing ___ files.

Then you will se their home page.

To search for a file on Kazaa you have to select the search button on the toolbar and type in a phrase in the box which you will see on the left hand side of the screen, you can also only find certain types of files by selecting the right category. It will then
search and return some results on the right hand of the screen, you may receive none or you may receive 200! Search through these and double click on the file you have selected, it will now start downloading, to view this click the traffic button at the top of the screen.

Most of the files you will download are genuine but the larger files are not as trustworthy but sometimes still work. So be careful!

On the traffic window you will see two sections ones for the files you are downloading and the other is for you to see who is downloading from you.

You will see your file in the top box, it will say the name, author, Progress this is a little bar telling you how far you have downloaded, the status, Time remaining, Speed and the filename.

Once the file has downloaded you can click on the button on the toolbar called My Kazaa this will bring up the files you have downloaded, if you press all then you can scroll through the list of the files you have downloaded or you can view them by category, if you select one of the files it will give you some information, if you double click the file it will launch it.

If you were wondering there is a button called Theatre this is where you can view any movie clips or trailers you have downloaded.

Also there is a shop button; this is where you can shop!

There is also a tell a friend button this is where you put your email and a friends email and a comment and it will tell them about Kazaa.

Finally there is an advertisement button at the end don’t worry about this.

There is only one more item I have to tell you about this is that Kazaa is spyware, they include other programs in the main setup application, and also install an advertisement program on your computer so they can make advertisements come up, for some people is may not be a problem, but for some people this may cause a problem.
