Well, I got this version of IE with a new computer and it was the first time I had been on the internet so originally I was very excited. I must admit that personnaly I do not think it was that buggy but there are definatly some bugs in it so I would not recommend it. It supports most of the graphics files (GIF's JPEG's ect) and all the VRML stuff which is very impressive. I must confess that I have since upgraded to IE5.5 and find that it is much quicker for downloading files. The one feature that I think is lacking in IE4 is that if a download is cancelled for any other reason than the user clicking 'cancel' you can not start the download from where it left off.
I`ve more less been convinced, after reading the opinions on IE5, to upgrade, but first of all i`d just like to slag off IE4... I doesn`t seem that a night goes by without one thing or another going wrong with IE4, I don`t know exactly how much of it is down to IE4 solely (not being a PC whizzkid) but it seems to have a mind of it`s own. I average about 2/3 crashes a day, sometimes I know I try and do things too fast and the poor thing gets confused, but sometimes it seems to just crashes without me even touching the keyboard! And there doesn`t seem to be any particular features either - IE5 has autofill, amongst other things, while IE4 just seems Basic. Can`t grumble about OE4 though, I`ve seen my friends version of OE5 and wasn`t that impressed, though i didn`t really look into it, with regards to changing any options (you can`t really do that on a friends PC). Hopefully Microsoft have learnt with IE4 and improved on it with IE5 - i`ll just have to go and find out for myself.
This version of Ie Came shipped with windows 98 1st edition and in my opinion was full of bugs. The problem was solved with the release of SR2 but then came IE5. IE4 was very fast for surfing the web but for downloading and chat it was net to usless. Again this software was regularly updated with patches which are still available on the web. I know many people who still use this browser and have not experienced any problems. Stay clear of this
