Advantages: Reliable, compatible and well-supplied with excellent free plugins

Disadvantages: Can use a lot of RAM, not as fast as some of its rivals for some tasks

First things first, Firefox is an excellent browser, and absolutely blows Internet Explorer away in terms of plugins, security and ease of use.

It is the add-ons that really elevate Firefox above the competition - free plugins like Ad Block Plus and No Script can greatly improve your web browsing experience, and keep you safe from various security risks.

However, I have found it to be somewhat bloated these days, taking up a lot of memory if you're like me and usually have at least 5 tabs open. Also, its JavaScript engine, though much improved in version 3.5, is not as fast as the one in Google's Chrome browser, which means Firefox isn't quite as snappy for JavaScript intensive apps like Gmail, although its performance is still far superior to Internet Explorer.

Version 3.5 also added "Private Browsing", which allows you to surf without logging your visited sites on your computer.

Firefox is still my browser of choice, for its flexibility, ease of use and security. However, other contenders like Google Chrome and Opera have very worthy browsers available too.

Summary: A great browser to use, and a significant upgrade over Internet Explorer
