Slow Internet connection speeds can be frustrating, and the hardware upgrades necessary to speed your system up can get very expensive. Netsonic offers solutions designed to help you get the most out of your current Internet connection without making costly investments in hardware upgrades. Netsonic is an easy-to-use software program that improves Internet connection speed for dial-up modems, cable modems, DSL, and LAN connections. By default, most modems and network connections in Windows are not configured to transfer data at their maximum or their most efficient speed (e.g 28800, 56KB). While the maximum transfer speed of a modem/network connection can only be changed by costly hardware upgrades, Netsonic optimizes Windows settings for data transfer over modem/network connections resulting in faster download speeds, faster web site loading, and an overall increase in web surfing session speed. Because modem/network settings are unique, Netsonic helps you fine-tune your specific settings to get the best-possible performance out of your current hardware. A user-friendly 'acceleration wizard' guides you through the optimization process, allowing you to choose whether to change settings on your own or follow the recommended changes. BENEFITS I RECIEVED: Improved Internet session speeds - up to 300% Faster download speeds Faster web site loading Saves time and money - no need to invest in costly hardware upgrades NETSONIC SUPPORTS: Internet Explorer 4, 5, and 6 Netscape 4.7 and 6.x AOL 5,6 and 7 Opera and NeoPlanet The great thing about Netsonic is you can download a trial version to see if you like it which i gurantee most internet users will. Just travel to www.download.com for your free download. Once hooked you can buy the real version for £17, a real bargain.
After getting a bit fed up of slow downloads, I thought that I'd give a browser "accelerator" a bash. I found one through PCWorld.com. They rated netsonic quite highly (and it was free!). I downloaded the program and started using it, at first there didn't seem to be any change in speed, however on subsequent revisits to sites the speed increase was in the order of 40-50% (roughly). After reading the installation guide a bit more, I realised that all the program does is stuff viewed pages into your hard drive and looks at possible links from the page that you are browsing, and stores them. All fine and dandy - if you can put up with the seemingly constant barrage of adverts for the same rubbish, and constant enquiries "do you want to upgrade, etc.". These occur even when you are not logged on! This is incredibly annoying - there is an option to turn these ads off for 2 hours, which is no good to most people as I suspect most of us (I do anyway) leave my PC permanently switched on. The idea, and acceleration, of the program is sound. It is heavily let down by the pop-ups.
Netsonic appeared on the outside to be a useful program, after all it claimed to speed up my internet connection. That itself is a myth, the physical speed of your connection remains the same. What it is supposed to do is read ahead and load into cache memory linked web pages to the one you are viewing thus making subsequent pages load more quickly. This is actually achieved by Netsonic and it does work well. It does what it claims in this respect but, and now for the crunch. It is prone to crashing your system, more so in Windows 98 & windows ME. I was plagued with blue screen crashes and Fatal Exception Errors after installing and using Netsonic. After much searching and trouble shooting I was able to isolate Netsonic as the cause. Since its removal I have had no further system crashes. I am not alone either, in my work I have come into contact with several others who's system crashes have been down to this program. What it actually conflicts with and why is still a mystery to me, but I advise you to stay well clear of this tool. With it you get another program called GATOR. Steer clear of this too as it seems to feed information about you and your surfing habits back to the company for their commercial gain. See my report on this program. If you want faster page loading and don't mind system crashes then this is an okay program. Personally I prefer to wait a few seconds longer for loading than risk upsetting my system yet again.
Netsonic is supposed to speed up your surfing and I've read and heard some good recommendations for it. I saw it in operation on a friends pc and was very impressed by the speed that Dooyoo pages loaded, but it didn't work for me. I couldn't get it to install. A warning box appeared saying that I needed winsock2 in order to install. The installation terminated. I got winsock2 from the Microsoft site but the programme still refuses to install. I was disappointed as I would like to increase my surfing speed. Netsonic does this by saving websites that you have visited so that you don't have to wait for them to load the next time you go there. I discovered after purchasing the package that it is available to download free of charge on a trial basis. If you are considering using Netsonic with win95 it might be advisable to try it it before you hand over any money. (Try: cnet or download.com) Fortunately I had bought my copy from Electronic Boutique and they were happy to replace it with a different programme, so I didn't lose out.
I installed Netsonic afetr reading a few opinions on it but unfortunately it didn't work. It installed OK but then when I tried doing the setup it said, "Your system does not support Winsock 2.0 which is required by Netsonic. Click cancel to quit this programme and Netsonic will not be installed on your computer. If you are usin Windows 95, click OK to visit the Winsock 2.0 upgrade site. If you are using Windows NT or Windows 2000, please use your system CD to repair your system." So I clicked OK and downloaded the Winsock 2.0 but then Winsock didn't work either! So now I can't use Netsonic because I don't have Winsock. i am not saying it is a bad programme but it's quite fustrating that this has happened and I envy everyone who has Netsonic as you can all surf faster than me! :-( Netsonic saves the websites that you have visited so next time you visit them they will automatically load up making your surfing much faster!
After being regularly frustrated with the time every single page downloaded whilst I was surfing I came across a review of Netsonic....the bees knees apparently..... As trusting as always I setout to download the program and install it...... Well....my assessment after 2 months of using it......... it was pants!!! I know the version I received was free to download other than my time and effort....but it regularly froze on me and I had to reboot the computer nearly every occasion.....Needless to say I deleted the program......So that was the black cloud....where is the silverlining? Well that was with the accompaning program called GATOR....it is a cute little thing that will help you if you are buying online......all you have to do is fill in your details on the GATOR dropdown menu and everytime you need to input your details such as credit card detail etc this little chap pops up and offers to put it in for you instead of searching for your card in the forever lost wallet. It does have a password so no one else can spend using your account. GATOR is also a star when it comes to filling out usernames and passwords on any site you visit......when you get to a new site it asks you if you want him to remember your details....if you agree everytime you go back there......up pops the useful GATOR.....Always a pleasure
I downloaded netsonic and even forked out the $29.99 for the pro version after reading all these opinions. To my horror It will not tie into my internet explorer and it just sits there a small bar that does not speed any thing up. I like the idea but I have spent the last two weeks in constant email communication with the co trying to get the damn thing to work. I am envious of you guys and wish it would work. I have to go now and send a zipped version to netsonic of my msconfig files so they can work out why Me and several hundred other people are not whizzing thru the ether with breath taking speed.
After reading Ystalyfera's opinion on this, being rather curious, I decided to check it out, even if I was a little sceptical..... It works!!! I really couldn't believe the difference!!! My only complaint with Doo Yoo had been the length of time it takes for the pages to load, now I just whizz through them!!! It works by 'remembering' the web pages you have already been to and when you go there again, it loads them instantly. I suppose the only drawback is that it only speeds things up for sites that you re-visit, but if you are anything like me, there are a couple of sites that you keep going back again and again to. You also get a piece of software called Gator with this, which I already had, which stores passwords for you and pops up when you are asked for a password. It also stores your details and you can fill in forms faster by dragging and dropping. An excellent piece of software, and the best thing is that it's free!!!
I downloaded netsonic some time ago to try and speed up the loading of my web pages and for quite a while I was really pleased with it. The pages loaded faster and I soon noticed if I forgot to click on it when I connected to the Internet. After a few months though I found that my computer was freezing very easily and that when I put up 'control alt delete' the webmain not responding was always netsonic. I decided to uninstall it and made do with the pages loading slower than when I had it. After some time I decided to download it again and for a while things were fine, then, you guessed it I had the same problem again. I uninstalled it yet again and am now making do without it. Although it is a pain with the pages taking longer to load, at least I don't have 'webmain not responding' all the time. Why netsonic seems to work for a while with me before playing up is a complete mystery. I wonder if it's because it's a freebie, and that if you purchased the better version of netsonic it might be better. Ah well, I suppose I will never know.
After reading mrsbbq,s opinion on netsonic i thought i,d give it a go,no harm in trying something that boosts my browsers speed. It took about 10 mins to download(3mb),and the set up was quite simple. You also get the online form filler GATOR with it,although i find this is a bit of a pain.Well it is speeding up my browser by up to 70%,brilliant for a site like dooyoo. It is simple to use and justs sits at the bottom of your screen, you can hardly notice it.It works by caching all your previously viewed webpages and then just refreshing what has changed on tha page youre viewing.Give it a try you wont be disapointed. You can download it for free from www.download.com.
He downloaded this web booster to counter the effects of alladvantage, and it is fabulous. It is especially useful for dooyoo, when I am hopping back and forwards between pages. I understand it works by dedicating a cache for web pages, so that you only load what is new. I have a 76% boost at present (dooyoo seems especially netsonic friendly, I guess a lot of the page content is the same). He got this from download.com, and it took only a few minutes to download. The bar is as thin as the task bar, and it sits neatly at the foot of my page.
