Advantages: None really over other existing types of online communication, it's just more fancy sounding that's all
Disadvantages: Where do I begin?...
Quickdot is simply a laughable service. I don't understand how this project ever saw the light of day. If I were a big chairman type asked for approval of something like this, I wouldn't hesitate in saying no.
Quickdot claims to some extent, in different words to be the future of messaging. The successor to email. Now, Quickdot has been going for a while now, and I don't see email addresses dissapearing. It doesn't help then that recently the service asks for a fee, as it seems to be gearing solely for corporate environments. I still have no idea how it'll benefit them as it didn't benefit me or my friends back then.
The service is nothing more than a fancy clogged up message board where you leave notes and all your friends have to be registered to to your page, which makes it even more yawningly tedious. And er, I think that's all it is. Apart from displaying, adverts, offers and tips. It's basically just a waste of space. Why Quickdot's still survived is still beyond me.
Basically Quickdot is not a great new online communications tool, and isn't anywhere near a threat to email, no matter what novelties it has. Email is still the most convenient. If you want to communicate effectively online, use anything but Quickdot. Signing up is just a waste of time. Just sign up to a regular (and less obtrustive) message board service with password protection for your friends if you must have something like this, as that would be better.
There's nothing further more to write. Don't bother visiting the site. If you already have chances are you'll have forgot about it instantly.
