Being a user of Yahoo myself I could write a shed load of comments both good and bad, but I wont.

First of all where can I download this software? you may be asking yourself. Well the software to Yahoo messenger is as the name suggests from the Yahoo website it is automatically downloaded when you choose to visit the messenger side of Yahoo.com which can be accessed by visiting the main website of Yahoo.

The download file itself is about 2700 kb or 2.7 MB, and once downloaded the installation itself is fully automatic.

Lets get to the nitty gritty the overall look of yahoo is rather good 5 outta 5 for this one!!

Its interface is split up into various sections once you log on, might I say that for logging on you can use either the automatic option; i.e when you start windows or you can wait until you connect to the Internet. You can configure it to store your password or you dont have to...
My personal preference is to launch yahoo when I want to and not when windows starts and have the password saved so when I do launch yahoo it automatically signs on to the yahoo network.

You can have the option of signing on in the state of invisible if you choose - this is a status that allows you to sign on as normal but anyone in your friends list cannot see when you are signed on.

Once signed on there is a choice of chat rooms that may be visited both default names set up by yahoo and user rooms; which are setup and run by the users of yahoo these range from general interest to Adult Chat rooms.

But beware there is rather offensive dialogue in some of these rooms and a downer of yahoo chat software is that there is NO parental controls of any type.

When you attempt to get into a chat room you may get a message saying that the room is full, this can be a bit frustrating as you have to load the list of rooms again and select another room. This is all well and good but is rather dampening when you
get the same message over and over again.

Once you do get into a room there is types of chat, normal typing chat, voice chat,type combined with voice and webcam or even any combination of these options.

If a user has a web cam and you choose to view there cam then you can only get into your chosen chatroom members cam with their permission.

There is also emotion icons which can be used; eg smiley face, unhappy face and many more.

The user can change their Font face, size and color using the drop down menus supplied in the interface.

A very useful feature I find is when a particular user becomes annoying ; ie starts sending stupid messages constantly, then they can be added to your ignore list simply by clicking the offebding users yahoo nameand clicking on the ignore button.
The user who is then chosen will be added to your ignore list and no more messages from this user can be accepted unless you go into the ignore list and delete the users name.

There is the usual option to have private messaging between users, and the ability to view other user profiles and believe me some of these can make very interesting reading!!!!

All in all I find that yahoo chat messaging is quite a good piece of software

I recommend it to anyone who wants to make use of their microphone and Web camera..
