Competition Overview

We have three Competitions at dooyoo this month:

Review of the Month: While we here at dooyoo do our best to award excellence on a regular basis, once a month we single out the cream of the crop, or at the very least, a review that speaks to us in a voice we haven't heard before. Only the very best reviews are declared 'Review of the Month' and their authors are given a bonus 3500 dooyooMiles in appreciation. View competition

Monthly Competition: Not all categories are created equal. Once a month we'll choose a particular category and award the best three Crowned Reviews found within with extra dooyooMiles. First place gets 5000 dooyooMiles, so the 'Monthly Competition' isn't something to sneeze at (if you're the kind of person to sneeze at competitions). Oh and if you're curious, 2nd place gets 3000 dooyooMiles while 3rd gets an extra 1000 dooyooMiles. View competition

First Review Draw: Are you the first to write a review on a particular product or service here at dooyoo? If you are,
you'll automatically be entered into the 'First Review Draw' to be one of 20 members who walk away with an extra
2500 dooyooMiles. So boldly write where no person has written before and maybe you'll walk away with a few extra dooyooMiles this month. View competition

December's Competition

Music is such a constant part of our lives these days, especially with the exponentially increasing rate at which new portable music devices are being released onto the market. The days of the boombox are (perhaps sadly) long gone… or are they?! Whether you’re a fan of the latest, state of the art MP3 players, or nostalgic for the old times and hankering after retro portable radios, we want your reviews in the Audio / HiFi category this month! Amplifiers, headphones, hifi systems, turntables and more, share your opinion with us to enter December’s Monthly Competition!

November's Competition

noodlesandwich Standing out above the rest last month in the Kids & Family category was the excellent review of the LittleLife Traveller Child Carrier by noodlesandwich. Carry Me Back(pack) comprehensively covers comfort for both the child and the carrier, the additional add-ons one can buy for the LittleLife Traveller, as well as it’s overall practicality – essential information for a busy parent! A fantastic review and worthy winner of the Monthly Competition.

Hishyeness Another great review, which came in a close second, was Hishyeness’s very straightforward and well written review of the Philips Avent Express II Microwave Steam Sterilizer. As Hishyeness rightly points out, sterilising feeding and nursing equipment is a tedious, but important task for all new parents. For reducing the hassle, while not compromising on cleanliness, the review, Steaming Away the Baby Bottle Bugs, highly recommends the Philips Avent steamer, calling it “portable, practical, quick and hassle free”.

sandemp In third place is one for the soon-to-be parents - the rather whimsically titled review, Whoosh, Whoosh, Whoosh. It’s a positive, though not unreservedly so, review of the Jumper Medical Angelsound Fetal Doppler. There is apparently some disagreement about whether these in-pregnancy baby monitors are a helpful purchase for parents, and in her well-balanced and extremely useful review sandemp mentions the limitations of this product while still sharing her and her partner’s favourable experience of the product. Definitely worth a read if you’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of your little one.

Review of the Month

Every month the dooyooTeam selects one review that is the most outstanding. The review can be in any category.

bamamo We have a lot of avid readers in the dooyooCommunity, many of whom redeem all their dooyooMiles for Amazon vouchers to purchase more books! Keeping up with a well-developed reading habit can still be a pricey endeavour though, which is one reason why we loved bamamo’s review of the Sony Reader Digital Book PRS505S. The review, Read all about it!, clearly addresses the biggest concerns that most bookworms would have about switching to the electronic version (such as battery life, eye-strain, and so on), and concludes with a resounding endorsement of the product. It’s a great review, an excellent gift idea, and a must see for all reading lovers!
