A Radley purse that looks just like Joey

Our family dog is a West Highland white terrier called Joey. I think because my younger daughter loves him so much was the reason that she first noticed Radley items and went on to buy me a purse as a birthday gift.

I don't know for sure where she purchased my purse but it could have been in a department store when they were selling purses at a big discount. I certainly hope this was a bargain and that she didnt pay full price as Radley purses are quite expensive, in my opinion. She does shop on-line so I'm sure she would have shopped around before purchasing.

I love my Radley purse. It really is so cute. But although I like a purse to look good I am quite fussy. They have to be easy to open as I find some clips very difficult and I like them to feel nice to hold. I also like a separate section for notes and change.

This is a good purse. It looks good and feels good and keeps change securely inside.
I would say that it's easy to pen and close but not so easy that money spills out.

The purse zips up nicely and coins stay inside until needed. There is a section for notes, credit, debit cards and a few bits and pieces.

      The purse is of a medium size being: w 14cm x H 9 cm

I love the appliqué design of the cute little Radley dog wearing his tartan scarf as he jumps around gleefully. A hedgehog can be seen and leaves which I feel are blowing about in an autumn breeze.

The stitching looks neat ad tidy.

My purse is in black with a white dog. Just like Joey!

A nice tea but weak flavour.

I love chamomile tea mainly drinking it at night to aid sleep, maybe that's a trick of the mind I don't know, but it works for me! Especially if I add honey this is delicious and I instantly relax.

This is also ideal to take when feeling ill as it settles the stomach and seeing it's more natural than a pill and hopefully more beneficial long term.

This is a plant that has been used down the ages and developed by herbalist and quickly became a tea. I first used Chamomile as a leaf tea, but I find the teabag not only more practical but tastes better. Th leaf form can be very strong [and messy] so this is obviously more practical and the preferred way of brewing it.

Personally for me to notice a difference I cut back on caffeine especially near bedtime and stuck to a regular routine that after two weeks I notice a difference in unwinding and going to sleep. Obviously this was partially due to the decrease in caffeine but I really believe it helps you when your body is in a routine and now regularly use this.

Twinnings, however, is possibly the weakest of the brands I have tasted.
When brewed longer, in the hope that it may become stronger it makes the tea bitter and taste astringent.
The 'film' that develops on top is really thick and not the greatest thing to work through.

They are reasonably priced, I normally get these for £1 at my local co-op for 25 bags. x

Bring a touch of glamour to your life.

If the occasion demands impact, then look no further than the Barry M range of make-up. Not a range for those who like to blend into the background, this explosion of colour puts you firmly at the forefront of glamour.
Whether it's eye shadows that gleam and glimmer, shimmering nail varnishes or the fabulously obvious Lash Vegas mascara (the original was so good I bought the waterproof one as well) this is make-up that begs to be seen.
Let out your inner showgirl with Dazzle Dust that brings eyes alive with the brightest brights you will find and if you dare to be different, there are so many colours on the Barry M stand to offer up inspiration, whatever the event. If you want a pout to match your posies, look no further than Barry M - you are sure to find the right shade on there.
Yes you could use this range for everyday wear, slicking on a quick flick of mascara for the office or smoothing a touch of blusher to add a healthy touch to cheeks but to make the most of Barry M those lashes should flutter like feathery fans and cheekbones definitely designed and sharp.
Seconds browsing the Barry M testers turns into minutes and foot- tapping, watch-checking partners as exploring all those delights is too much of a temptation.
Gazing at the Barry M stand reminds me of theatres and grease paint and while there are cheaper ranges of make-up around, this is definitely not the most expensive way to bring a touch of glamour to your life.

      Advantages

      • Answerphone

      Disadvantages

      • "Not great sound quality "

      Not that impressed

I must have had this set of phones for a good few years now and yet I have never been overly keen on them.
I have meant to replace them for a good while now but just haven’t got around to it.
They aren't terrible or anything but I do have a few issues and I just think that they should be better.
I bought these phones after buying another brand but these didn’t have a speaker phone facility so I returned them and bought these in their place.
My set of phones has an answer phone integrated onto the base of the main phone handset. There are three other phones.
Having this type of phone set up is useful as only one phone socket is needed and extra handsets only need an electric socket close by.
We have a phone in the hallway, the main phone with answer phone in the living room, a phone in the kitchen and one upstairs.

The phones have several useful features such as:

      INTERCOM
This is very handy when wanting to communicate with members of the household without having to shout up or down stairs. Each phone is numbered and can be reached by another handset or all can be made to ring at the same time.
      RINGTONE
The phone sound on the intercom is different from the sound when an external call is being received.
Each handset can be set with a different ringtone.
      HANDS FREE/SPEAKER PHONE
This is useful when the phone rings at an inconvenient time whilst performing a chore such as ironing or cooking because you can talk while working. However I don’t think the sound quality is good enough to enjoy using this feature.
      MUTE
The mute/ secrecy button can be quite easily pressed accidentally.
      ANSWER PHONE
This has up to twelve minutes of recording time.
      LAST NUMBER REDIAL
This is where any of the last 10 numbers called can be redialled.
      LOW BATTERY
The low battery warning bleep can be used to locate the phone. It’s handy because the handsets are often left out of their cradles. By pressing the find feature the phone will ring so that it can be located and replaced.
      PHONE BOOK
      Fifty numbers can be stored.
      RANGE
The phones have a range of up to 300 metres outside and 50 metres inside.

The features are good but I don’t find it easy to add numbers to the phone book or to set other features. I also find that the sound quality of these phones isn't particularly good.

*Each handset uses two NiMH AAA rechargeable batteries.

      Wowsers!!

I have a confession. I love sour sweets, the really intense ones. I often look longingly at the 'OLDE ENGLISH SHOPE' in the north online and wish I could get what Nigel Slater says is the sourest sweets in the world there. Until then, ROSEHIP tea is it.
Oh yes, ROSEHIP tea brewed longer than 5-7 minutes is the sourest tea ever! And the healthiest! ha at least my teeth will not suffer.

This is a great tea is you like a plain straight forward fruit tea. No adding to it, no blending flavours and that's the best way.

The scent when you open the box doesn't to it justice, if anything it can be a little off-putting as it is a dull fragrance however once the boiling hot water hits the tea bag it is a heavenly summery scent and very uplifting.

This is packed with a lot of vitamin C and is ideal to ward of colds and flus. It is a great cleanser for the kidneys as well.
It also contains VITAMIN A which is ideal for anyone suffering from Ance as this cleanses the skin from the inside and reduces inflammation, renews skin cells and heal old wounds. For me that aspect was good but it's better when you use the rosehip oil on the face, its best to see online the various places about the facial oil but combined which tea this is very good.
VITAMIN A also boosts the immune system and prevents bacteria and viruses so overall this is very good.
Always check with your doctor for health benefits and especially when taking medication xx

You can obviously brew this lightly or extremely strong. But this makes a very good ice tea as well.
CLIPPER sells these for £1.79 for 60 teabags, plus they've recently revamped their entire look and it's ruddy gorgeous!

I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves the herbal/ health teas such as lemon, echinacea, and ginger. x

      • "Good price"
      • Accurate

      Disadvantages

      • None

      Great for knowing your weight

The scales are part of the Colourmatch range which is available from Argos, both online and in store and they retail at £12.99.

Despite the low price tag, the glass is quite chunky and it gives them a quality feel and they don't feel like they would break when I stand upon them. The glass plate measures 30cm x 30cm so they are quite a decent size. To the top of the scales is a little LED display which shows you your weight, this can be either in stones or KG (you can change by switching a little button on the underside) I prefer to use stones.
Before standing on the scales, they have to be activated, the instructions advise you to tap them slightly, wait for the LED display to set to zero and then get on them, I find the best way to 'wake them up' is to actually push the top of them slightly with my foot and then get on. When I stand on the scales, they automatically start to calculate my weight, once it has balanced out, my weight flashes on the screen and stays there for about 30 seconds before disappearing however if I step off the scales, this disappears within around 5 seconds.

The LED display is operated by a little cell button battery which is included in the price, we have only had the scales around a month so I cant really comment yet on how long these last however the scales do have an auto shut-off when not in use so if they are anything like the scales I have at home, these should be quite long lasting.
So far, I have found the scales to be pretty accurate and inline with what my home scales say (which I found to be reliable in the past), I try to keep them in same place on the floor as with the caravan floor being made from wood (and has a carpet on top), there is a bit of difference if I move these around however I think this is more to do with the flooring rather than the quality of the scales. It is worth noting that the scales do have a maximum eight usage of just under 24stone (approx. 150kg).

So far, I am quite happy with the scales and I would definitely recommend, they would get 5 out of 5 stars from me.

      A true story...honest

Whilst working in a tea and coffee specialist store we sold Green tea and I was pretty consistent in making sure I drunk this all day along hoping some of the many benefits might work one day.

Bear with me, this is a true story.
A Japanese lady came up to us and put down six box of leaf tea, we packed them and then obviously charged her the amount due. She kindly said 'I am a pensioner. I'd like the pensioner discount' which is what we offered on our products.
I explained she needed to be at least 65 [at the time] she, to me and another member of staff was not eligible.
She politely laughed behind her hand very sweetly and said I am pensioner age. I disagreed, she, no word of a lie, looked 49 at the latest.
She asked me what age I thought she was and told me to be honest, so I said 49. Hoping she would be mad instead she turned round and said I'd made her day!
      How come? I asked.
      I am 72 years old!
I gasp, my assistant nearly fainted and she laughed with such happiness.
There began a long tale from her homeland, what her mother and grandmother taught, which was exquisite to listen to and then she told us that 'you silly westerners always brew this wrong.' So here apparently is the magic formula!

You brew in a bowl or small coffee sized mug a pinch or measured teaspoon of green tea LEAVES, no bags, LEAVES.
Leave this to stew, not brew lightly for...wait for it...3 hours!! Do this 3 x a day.
The green tea needs to be cold and bitter, very strong not this week tea you have, pointing to my mug which I became embarrassed about.

This is the best way to drink the tea and hold back the years. She looked stunning and plus she said mainly due she believes to the green tea rarely went to the doctor for ailments because she didn't have any. Of course, she talked about dietary differences but overall she swears by green tea.

Of course, this was difficult to drink at such a high strength but if it's going to beat the wrinkles etc why not?

I have tried to stick to this formula, I'll get back to you in fifty years!

      • "None really "

      Disadvantages

      • "Makes my hair look flat "
      • "Makes my roots greasy"

Maybe my hair LIKES sulphates !

I had read a lot of positive reports about the new range of shampoo and conditioners from L’Oreal – Eversleek Smoothing and Nourishing. I bought the bottle of shampoo from Tesco as they had it on special offer but they had none of the conditioners left at the time so I just had to make do with the shampoo on its own. It didn’t come cheap, I have to say, at nearly £6 for a large tube but I thought I would give it a go as it claimed to make my hair smoother and sleeker whilst adding bounce and volume. I can do with all of that so I gave it a try.

The shampoo itself has a lovely scent to it. It is rich and creamy in texture and you only need a small amount for a fairly good lathered up head. It rinses off well and my hair looked good for about half a day until I started to notice that my roots were looking a bit flat and lifeless.

I suffer from hair which has very dry ends and greasy roots anyway, and after about five weeks of using this shampoo, I have come to the conclusion that it really does not suit my hair type at all. My hair is looking rather flat and lifeless, as opposed to volume infused and full of life.

My hubby has tried this shampoo a few times himself and he claims to quite like it – though he doesn’t have a lot of hair on his head to be able to make any real judgment, as far as I am concerned. It is meant to be good for me hair as it contains no sulphates but maybe my hair prefers sulphates.

Whatever the reason, I shall not be buying more of this as it just didn’t suit my hair type.

      Mmmm ... strawberries

We use a variety of different types of liquid hand soaps in our house as I much prefer them to the bars of soap as I find them far more hygienic. I used to buy Cussons Strawberry Laces liquid soap a lot, until I found that it had just disappeared off the shelves for a while and now it seems like it has been ages since I last saw a bottle. I miss it!

I used to love strawberry laces liquid soap – just something about the name that I used to find really sweet. Lat time I bought a bottle of this it cost me about £1.70 and it came in a standard 250ml bottle.

The soap comes with its own useful little dispenser at the top which used to dispense just the right amount of liquid soap. The soap was more of a thick type of gel in terms of consistency and it used to sit in a bit of a blob on my hand.

With wet hands, all you needed was a small amount of soap to get a great foaming lather. It killed off over 99% of germs and it rinsed off my hands perfectly every time – there was never any sticky reside left behind.

It was a liquid soap which was suitable for the entire family to sue and the smell was delicate and fresh and not too “girly” as y hubby would say. It was well packaged and looked pretty and pink and I never used to feel the need to have to move it into one of my standard soap dispensers.

Shame I cannot find it any more – but highly recommended.

They don't seem to have a large range of own label products either, so I'm invariably forced to pay over the top for a branded product because there's nothing else available.

I went for the over 50s life cover which was very easy to set up. There was no medical involved and I chose a premium which was affordable and would result in enough money being available for my funeral. There are other products on the market which offer the same thing and the Post Office compares favourably with these. My premium is set at £7 a month and should pay out a lump sum in the event of my death. The only worry is that the policy doesn't pay out for the first 12 months so if anything happened during that time there would be no payout available.

It has a very sensitive screen which is great for ease of use. There are a choice of vibrant colours (so you can't lose it in your handbag)

      Comfortable, good value, everyday briefs.

I bought these briefs in a rush as I needed some white briefs of this style and didn't have much time to shop around. This particular item came in a pack of 4 and was priced at £2.50 for the pack so I was happy to pay that amount as I normally pay far more than that for just a single pair of briefs. The pack that I purchased had 4 identical white shorts-style briefs, although I did note that there were other packs containing mixed patterns on them.

The underwear is 100% cotton and is really comfortable and breathable. The size is of a good fit and they come sized in regular clothing sizes (8,10, 12 etc). I much prefer this type of labelling as I find choosing a size out of Small, Medium or Large rather confusing so this made my purchase much easier. Adding to the comfort is that there is no tight elastic on the lower part of the briefs. Many briefs in the style of shorts have elastic around the legs which I find gets too tight and is uncomfortable, needing readjustment. I did not experience this problem at all with this particular pair.

I have only had this product for a couple of weeks so cannot testify to the longevity of the product but so far they have been very good value for money. They are not the most beautiful underwear available on the market, but as a comfortable, day to day brief they work very well for me. 3/5.
