      bien

On aime.

      About:

Neal’s Yard is an ethically inspired UK brand using other UK companies for testing and manufacturing. They have their fair share of awards and a firm believer in organic and natural ingredients. They’ve been around for 30 years and advocate cruelty free experimentation, support many causes and believe in benefits of herbs for health and well being. They aren’t a high street brand but they are well renowned, I appreciate their serious approach and that they don’t compromise on their products for the sake of image. They don’t use petrochemicals, SLS, mineral oil (paraffin), synthetic perfumes, silicones, unnatural preservatives, parabens or phthalates. Remember that those ingredients can cause skin irritation so if you have sensitive skin or if you don’t want ingredients that your skin can’t process it’s always good to keep an eye on the label or these brands that are committed to high quality. They do use plastic packaging for their products but many benefit from their trademark blue bottles; blue glass and dark glass in general act as a filter for UV and preserve oils for longer (cooking oils also) and prevent the leeching of plastic chemicals into the product, plus the glass bottles are re-usable.

      The Performance:

Power Berry Daily Moisture 100ml £23.75 – marketed as ‘lightweight, easily absorbed daily moisturising lotion containing antioxidant-rich acai, bilberry, goji berry and rosehip, supports the skin with hyaluronic acid to boost skin moisture levels, whilst a synergistic combination of buddleia and thyme, containing antioxidant flavonoids, and anti-inflammatory saponins and triterpenoids, acts as an anti pollutant to help combat ‘city stress’ and promote skin radiance and vitality.’

I find this very hydrating and revitalising, and even though I don’t generally have sensitive skin my jaw and neck can react to creams but I haven’t had any problems with this. I dehydrate quite easily so this is helpful for my skin as a thirst quencher, it gives a ‘wake up’ call making my face feel immediately perky. It also smells mood enhancing and is very smooth.

Unfortunately I wouldn’t say this has deep moisturizing effects, perhaps for younger and combination or oily skin but for 30+ and dry skin it seems like more of an instant boost than long lasting such an overnight lotion. Long term it does make my skin feel supple and abit firmer but it doesn’t do much about lines, it doesn’t plump the skin or make it ‘radiant’ so for me it doesn’t improve the overall condition of skin making it look younger.

My hands look older than I am as I’m constantly cleaning so it’s a shame that isn’t enough for them and they look tired again as soon as I wash them so the lotion doesn’t do much there other than a quick ‘facelift’ so to speak.

Overall I’d say this is a good hot weather moisturizer when you just want it to absorb quickly, sit well under makeup (if you wear any) and refresh. Other than that something stronger may be needed.

      Advantages

      • "Great benefits"
      • "Easy to navigate"

      Disadvantages

      • "Genuine cashback can be declined"
      • "Some retailer take longer to pay"
      • "Frustration when credit doesn't track"

Free cash for shopping, however don't spend it until it is confirmed!

I discovered TopCashback after being referred by a friend. It sounded a little too good to be true to be honest. The concept in a nutshell is that providing you go via this website before conducting online shopping a percentage of your overall spend is paid back into your TopCashBack account.

There are various sites of a similar nature that offer certain benefits for 'referrals' onto web pages. My advice is to select a few and play them off against each other. Before buying online you should weigh up where the greatest benefits lies. This is where I find TopCashBack one of the leaders, quite often their rates beat those of competitors and they have limited time offers usually offering increased rates. I also find there are two types of transactions with these sorts of site, everyday transactions that usually accrue a couple of percent. For these transactions I tend to automatically use TopCashBack predominantly for ease of use. The second type of transaction is for larger purchases/services which normally attract much larger rates of cashback. These transactions insurances, mobile phone contracts etc.. Where possible I would wait for an offer rate for these products as it can make quite a difference.

The site itself is very easy to register with and navigate. There is a personalised section which will detail your account and break down each of your earnings. There are so many retailers included in the scheme, 95% of the major high street retailers will offer some form of cashback. The search bar makes it very easy to locate the retailer that you are after. There are occasions where tracking is unsuccessful but there is a customer care section where you can lodge a claim for this. Some retailers take longer to approve cashback than others meaning a delay in payment. ultimately the decision to pay cashback rests with the retailer and I have had one or two genuine claims where the retailers have refused to pay. The only way to avoid this disappointment is only consider the money once it available for payout.

Overall you don't have anything to lose by using a site such as this, providing you would have bought the items anyway.

      Advantages

      • "invisible underwear!"

      Disadvantages

      • "bit pricey"

invisible pants which you do not feel you are wearing - bliss!!!

I have been buying Sloggies for a number of years now and have NEVER been disappointed with any of their briefs whether they are high, medium or low designs as their quality is very good, the standard is great and there is never any sloppy stitching which can be found in cheaper knickers.

At around £12 I find they are by no means the best value underwear around but they certainly last month after month with no sign of wear or tear or thinness in the fabric despite washing everyday.

I love these Supreme Mini Briefs which I bought in the winter. They are so comfy to wear and there are no seams and have a very comfy waistband which does not irritate. In fact, they are so comfy that I always forget I am wearing them.

Mine are black and the label tells me they comprise 72% nylon and 28% elastane but don't be put off by the fact they have no cotton because you do not feel hot or sweaty even in the hottest weather.

The fact they are 'invisible' means that you can be free from the dreaded VPL and they help pull your tummy in without feeling that you are being restricted.

They work well with all clothing from skinny jeans to that 'little black dress' and never ride up or down which means they are perfect for long haul flights and all women on the go. I think there is a range for men now too? If so this is well worth looking out for because for some reason males often tell me they cannot find comfortable and practical underwear!

For the above reasons I would recommend trying these ie for comfort, no VPL, great design and construction, ease of care and longevity of Sloggi garments in general.

      Advantages

      • "Makes pasta nicer"

      Disadvantages

      • "can dry out the pasta if not used right"

      Softer pasta

When I first started wanting to make lasagne for my partner, as he preferred home made. I got a few cooking tips off his mother. I know we do not always like to take advise over our cooking but I was quite grateful. She said the best sauce to buy is Dolmio, as the cheaper brands are not as good. So when I attempted to make one, I listened to her advice and bought Dolmio. I was a little bit shocked to see it was £1.99 for a jar, and don’t forget you also have the red jar to buy, so to say I would have preferred to buy a frozen one is an understatement. It seemed to be costing quite a bit to make my own.

But I had to give it a try and I started out with my lasagne, on mine I needed three layers of sauce. The way you have to use this sauce, just in case you do not know, it is to go over your lasagne sheets, to stop them from been too dry and hard. This can be a little tricky to do, as you have to try to spread it into all the corners, and make sure that you do cover all of the pasta.

You do not need to put a lot of sauce over the lasagne sheets, just a thin layer to cover the sheets. I find that this does usually do my three layers with ease, and I do have quite a big tray too. So you do get quite a bit of white sauce. I did find once I did not cover all my pasta and some parts were pretty dry and did not taste nice so make sure you do cover it all.

To be honest I do not think I could comment on the taste of this, as the other flavours do tend to over power it, but even though you can not taste it, I do think that you definitely need it in there just to stop your pasta been dry. I would recommend this to buy but I do not think it would make too much of a difference buying a cheaper brand.

a great gradual tan product but comes at a price

I have been using fake tans for many years now with varying degrees of success but have always experienced problems with tanning products such as streaking, application, colour or smell. I have to say, however, that this Gradual Glow Hydrating Body Milk by Decleor is by far the best I have come across to date. Unfortunately the price is pretty steep - ranging from around £20 (eBay) to £28 (other websites) for 250ml.

`I bought mine on QVC a couple of months ago where it was featured in the TSV and thought I would take advantage of their 30 day money back guarantee, but I certainly will not be returning it because it is really good and several people have commented on how well I look!

It come in a sturdy yet rather cheeky-looking bulbous pump-dispenser and the pump action works very well and dispenses just the right amount without clogging or leaking. Although it is described as a 'milk' it is actually the consistency of a body lotion which smells nice and not at all 'biscuity' like so many fake tans. I feel the description is fair because it is a gradual tan (as opposed to dramatic) so I feel more in control of how dark I want to look. Once applied I find the tan lasts about 3 days and it fades rather than disappears.

The product is simple to apply without the need of a mitt (you just need to wash your hands after applying) and despite the fact that there is no guide colour, I have found that it provides a nice tan which does not streak so you don't have to be an expert when massaging it in - yay!

I have often found that tanning products make my skin look dry and rather taut but this product actually hydrates my skin and makes it look and feel a whole lot better. Whilst watching the QVC presentation one of the questions asked was 'is it suitable for the face too?' and was informed that it was fine although I would point out that it should be kept away from the eyes - mine are quite sensitive so I apply it avoiding the eye area. The other reason I bought it was the fact that you do not have to exfoliate or moisturise before applying nor do you have to wait until the product dries which makes it very convenient and easy to use. The tan develops in around 4 hours so all you need to do is basically steer clear of soap and water.

An added bonus is that there are no parabens and Decleor tend to use natural ingredients and this particular product contains magnolia essential oil, meadow foam oil, narcissus bulb extract and vanilla extract.

In conclusion, this is the best gradual tan product that I have ever bought in terms of ease of application, colour, longevity and hydration but unfortunately it comes at a price.
