... speech, counting, colours and have also helped his imagination as he has got older. To start with I would build them and he would knock them over - who would have thought this game would be such fun for so long! It was a lovely way to spend time with him hearing him laugh. It also helped his counting as we would also count the blocks as we built them. We also used the bricks to help with his colours as we built them or we would use them to play snap the colours. Now he tends to build garages for his cars out of them, ...more

Crowned Review ELC Wooden Bricks: A bucket full of fun (1099 words)

As the parent of a developmentally delayed child I tend to look for toys that are not only fun but will also help him learn new skills. It's therefore no surprise that I spend a lot of my time in the Early Learning Centre (ELC), and the one range of toys that keeps me coming back for more is their wooden toys. One of the first toys we bought in this range was the bucket of bricks. ~~~What you get~~~ The bricks come in a sturdy cardboard bucket that has a plastic lid and handle. There are a total of 100 bricks in a variety of shapes and colours. There are cubes, rectangular, triangular, arched and semi-circular bricks all just the right size for ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review ELC wooden throwing blocks ... I mean building blocks (660 words)

My daughter who has recently turned 1 has a new found fetish for wooden bricks. Not to build with them, or to sort them, not to arrange them or to even lick them but to throw them!! My daughter got brought these bricks for her first birthday, 3 sets in fact, must be a popular present I guess and at only £13.00 this is a fantastic price for a lovely gift! Widely available also as they are early learning Centres own brand make which means you can find them in practically any shopping centre or mother care in Great Britain. They are aimed at children ages 1-3 and this is a perfect age group. There are a hundred brightly coloured bricks in a canvas bag ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review ELC Wooden Bricks: Let's Build A Tiny House (655 words)

These were a Christmas present for my two year old daughter. I had wanted to get her some building blocks for ages but my husband kept putting me off for some reason, so when these were given as a gift I was quite chuffed. There are 100 bricks in total and they come in a cotton storage bag, which is quite handy as my daughter can carry them around in this bag (if she's strong enough!) much easier than she could if they came in a box. The bricks come in a variety of shapes and colours; there are long and short oblongs, squares blocks, semi-circles, triangles, cylinders, and arches. The colours are red, yellow, green, blue and natural, so quite eye ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I'm brickin' it here (277 words)

WHAT IS IT: 100 coloured wooden bricks in a range of shapes and sizes from the Early Learning Centre. IS IT ANY GOOD: We were given these bricks a while back by my boss, and I have to say they've proven to be one of my son's favourite toys. The brilliance lies in the versatility of the shapes and the sheer quantity available. With 100 bricks, there is pretty much nothing you cannot make if you so desire. We have made houses, bridges, cars and (my personal favourite) a hotel. Quite often, when you buy bricks or lego, there isn't much of it (we actually got a duplo set with only 15 bricks in it haha), but with 100 in this set, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review ELC Wooden Bricks: For all young builders! (497 words)

For my son's first birthday he received a large cardboard bucket full of Early learning centre wooden bricks. He was delighted with this present and they have remained a favourite ever since. The bricks come in a variety of bright colours and shapes. There are square bricks, trianglular bricks and rectangular bricks. The box he received contained about 100 bricks in total. I see from looking on the E.L.C website that these bricks now come in a cotton storage bag, which I think is a lot better. The cardboard tub, although fairly robust, has long since fallen apart. I love wooden toys and these bricks are especially tactile. They are really well made ...  Read the complete review
