The Handy Manny 2 in 1 Transforming Truck is made by Fisher Price and became available last Christmas. It costs £69.85 from Argos and I haven't seen it any cheaper than that. We purchased it for my daughter last Christmas and we got it for £59.99 when Argos had one of their special offers on (you know, like a third of Fisher Price toys etc). For those of you that don't know, Handy Manny is a character in a cartoon of the same name on the Playhouse Disney Channel. Handy Manny is the town's handy man and he has a box of talking tools and they all have to go out and sort out various problems in the town. The Handy Manny 2 in 1 Transforming Truck is a complete replica of the truck Handy Manny drives in the series. The truck itself is bright red and the bonnet of it lifts up to reveal its engine etc which your child can fix with the tools which come with it. Strangely, this only comes with 4 of the 7 tools from the series; Pat the Hammer, Dusty the Handsaw, Squeeze the Pliers and Flipee the Screwdriver. There is a button on the door of the truck which you press and it will play the theme song. The truck has a small button at the back on what looks like two doors. When you press the button, it releases and opens to reveal a tool bench inside. The tool bench has a little blue telephone which is hanging on the hook. This telelphone rings and your child is encouraged to answer it. The person on the other end is one of the characters from the show and they will have a problem with either a fan, a toaster, a camera or a clock. All of these items are on the work bench. Your child will have to select the correct tool to fix the item. One of the tools will be shouting "Pick me! Pick me!" and if your child watches the show, they will know which tool it is by the voice. When your child fixes the item, they will be congratulated and the item will "work" again using sound effects. Also included in this truck is a wood vice with a piece of wood so that Dusty can do some sawing and there are also some clips which you clip on to the tool bench "wall" and you can hang the tools up until they are needed. There is also a blue print to show your child how to make the repairs. The truck also uses Spanish phrases as they do in the show to try and teach your child Spanish. My daughter learned some Spanish from Dora the Explorer and already knows what most of the phrases in Handy Manny mean. My daughter really loves this truck. She did wonder why all the tools were not there, especially when they are on the front of the box. It was not a real issue as she already has the tools but I don't think they should show them on the box as children will think that they are in there. My daughter has played with it alot since we purchased it for her for Christmas last year but I really don't think it was worth the money. It just doesn't warrant that much. There isn't alot to do and once all the items have been fixed then there is nothing left to do apart from fix them again. My daughter does make up her own little stories with the truck though. I think it should only be about £40. It is made of strong plastic and is hard wearing. My daughter's still looks like new and that is with constant play. The truck requires 3xAAA batteries. You can also purchase the Let's Get To Work Handy Manny figure which fits in the truck easily. This is around £21.99. I would only recommend this item for fans of the show. The truck lost 2 stars from me for showing all of the tools on the front of the box and only having four of the seven inside and for not having that much to do.
