I would recommend it for children who love building things

My son had one of these for Christmas a couple of years ago, at the time Santa found it for £20 in Toys r Us on sale- usual price £24.99 rrp.

Being one of a series of four my son actually wanted the Ferris Wheel but it had sold out everywhere, also in the series (but sold separately) comes an Octopus ride and a Roller Coaster all priced the same.

The box is about a foot in size in red with a picture of the made up Swing on the front. The box is sturdy which is good as you need it later to put the small bits back in safe.

In the box is everything you need to get building, you get 432 colourful plastic rods, lego style bricks for the seats, loads of connectors and a motor- well everything except the two AA batteries to work the motor. The pieces are colour co-ordinated depending on size to make it easier to construct. The whole thing is good quality and tough.

The pile of sticks and small parts is a bit daunting, it looks complicated but the instructions are clear. The rods are clicked together using the small connectors and this is quite easy. My son and husband built in in a couple of hours. Subsequently my son has built it alone he was 11 at the time and was pleased with his achievement. The age recommendation for this is 7 but I think an average 7 year old would need help.

Standing at two foot tall once built it's big, too big to keep anywhere for a length of time. The Swing isn't heavy and can be easily moved without falling to bits. We have limited room so it has to go back in the box often. Taking it apart and rebuilding it hasn't compromised it at all.

After building the swing and attaching the motor it's ready for the big switch on. The Swing spins 'round and 'round at quite a speed- and that's about it, there isn't anything else you can do with it. A pipe cleaner man had fun on for abit but he soon got bored too. That's the trouble with specific construction sets their play is limited. My son did try to build other things with the kit but without much success. Even so he enjoyed building it and watching it spin.

I'm giving it 4 stars because it's good quality and fairly priced but knocking off a star as it has limited play.
