I have a nearly 3 year old daughter who is very advanced for her age so for Christmas along with the normal pile of toys I thought it would be nice as she is very creative to get her some craft like toys. Last year and throughout the year I have spent a small fortune on just bits and bobs, glitter, mini pom poms, googly eyes act to stick on pictures and since Christmas I have seen a large proportion of these craft supplies stuck to my carpet as well as numerous pictures but in the end the majority of the contents from these packets usually end up in my vacuum and ultimately are bought to tread into my carpet and then head off for the bin.
When I was a child I had a simple but well made dolls house I spent ages playing with so I thought this year I wanted to get a traditional dolls house for my daughter, something to buy bits for and that we could decorate together..............................HOW MUCH!!!!!!!!!!! Now I knew it would not be cheep but some of the dolls houses I have looked at in certain craft stores were £150.00+ and that was just the basic shell, they still need assembling and all the furniture and all the skirting boards/ carpets/ wallpaper/ light fittings.......the list goes on until I found this stunning little villa. I remembered as a child I really enjoyed these types of pop out and slot together models and used to glue the joints to ensure the models were extra sturdy.
This is not the largest model house by any stretch but it is very well designed and simple to construct. If this is to be played with not just displayed then defiantly glue the structure well and with relatively inexpensive wood glue and you will be very happy with the result. I glued and painted parts of mine pre glue and gave it a good coat of varnish and WOW it looks at least 100 quid's worth and worth every second I spent on it.
As for the dolls to use in this I found that certain 'families' of fussy animals can work ...... just a little thought for all the parents out there who don't want to spend £80 on a plastic tree house.
I hope my daughter will enjoy playing with this model / toy and when she is a little older I hope she will put these kind of models together herself. Very easy to construct just push the pieces together no tools required and the instructions were ok, id say for these type of models it was one of the more complex but still not hard at all. My one true criticism was that there was a lot of waste from the push out pieces so keep yourself organised. If your child is old enough to put this together themselves you will loose them for an hour but if you suggest they paint, glue and varnish you could loose them for 2 days. Good value and a pretty model at the end

Great fun for both children and adults! The kit comprises of strong pre-cut plywood sheets. The pieces are pressed out in number sequence, and slotted together to complete a fantastic 3-D model.
