Superdrug Saline Solution
by Loubielou82
I purchased a bottle of Superdrug Saline Solution when I recently had an eye infection and the doctor had advised me to bathe my eye twice a day with saline.
Previously, I have always made saline myself by boiling the kettle, letting it cool and then adding salt to the water. I was never 100% sure that my home concoction ... was completely sterile and it was quite time consuming to do. Thanks to Superdrug however, I no longer need to do this. This product comes ready to use straight from the bottle. Just squeeze onto a cotton wool ball and bathe away. It is very convenient and is well worth the money for the price. I also feel happier knowing that the product is completely sterile and safe to use.
This product would also be ideal for cleaning cuts, grazes or bites and I will be making sure that I always have a bottle of this in my medicine cupboard now as you just never know when it will come in handy. Read the complete review |

Alcon Systane Eye Drops
by Loubielou82
I have been wearing contact lenses for many years and have chronic dry eye syndrome. Over the years I have tried every eye drop on the market in an attempt to find some relief to the gritty, itchy feeling and to stop my contacts from drying up and falling out.
Systane was recommended to me by a hospital doctor who told me ... that it was the best on the market. As an oil based eye drop, it coats the eye and stays there for far longer than the water based drops, which simply evaporate the minute you put them in.
I did have some concerns as nowhere on the bottle does it say that Systane is suitable for use with contact lenses, however the doctor advised me that it was and I have now been using this product for several months. The instant soothing feeling when the drops go in is bliss and these truly do keep my eyes and my lenses moist for longer than any of the other drops which I have tried.
These are expensive at almost £8 a bottle but you will use half the amount compared to the cheaper drops that you are putting in all the time. Overall these are a good buy for anybody suffering with dry eyes, through contact lens wear or otherwise. Read the complete review |

Johnson & Johnson Acuvue Oasys
by Loubielou82
I wore Acuvue Oasys lenses for several years until I recently made the change to the daily disposable version of the same lens. As somebody with very dry eyes, I needed a lens which would stay moist and sit comfortably in my eye for several hours each day and I did find that the Acuvue Oasys lenses were perfect in this sense.
...
My main problem with these lenses was that they had to be removed every night, cleaned with a solution and then soaked in a lens case overnight ready to be put in again the next morning. Solutions are expensive and I went through several lens cases in an attempt to keep everything clean however I still found myself getting recurring eye infections. Upon being referred to the hospital, the optician informed me that they see endless infections like mine, all caused by people using the same contact lens day after day, and for this reason I changed to the dailies.
Overall, these are very comfortable lenses, great for those with dry eyes, however please be very careful when cleaning them so as to minimise infection. Read the complete review |
